Good size for a two guard and has the ability to be great in this league.

Another name I hope we go after is Wayne Ellington of North Carolina. He might be an undersized SG, but he reminds me of a right handed Cuttino Mobley

Why draft Chalmers? Dude is not a pure PG. I say we grab a C in the first round and a swingman in the second.

Brooks Lopez and DeAndre Jordan and Javal McGee will most likely all be gone.
Hibbert is the only possibility that would actually be a decent pick and knowing our luck he'll be gone too...
So unless one of those four are available, I go with drafting the BPA.
Dorsey is undersized and the rest of the centers will probably never pan out to be more than third stringers.
Chalmers is going to be a great player in this league... I would rather draft a player that on a 1-10 scale is going to be around a 7 than draft by position and end up with a 4, someone who isn't going to bring us championships.
If both Brooks and Chalmers develop to be starters then we are looking at a Raptors situation with Ford and Calderon and the ability to trade for a sure impact player.
Alston is not a championship teams point guard and we are in desperate need of a above average floor general.

Chalmers is clearly not a pure point guard. He dominates the ball just as much as Russell Robinson or Sherron Collins and his assist comes as a consequence of that. He's not as a good as what you're thinking.

And we can't rely on inexperienced PGs to win a championship. Guys like Deron Williams and Chris Paul are rare talents and they were drafted very high in the previous draft. Unless your name is Derrick Rose or OJ Mayo, you are not a PG who can make an immediate impact in the ballclub. That applies to Chalmers as well, he's not entirely NBA-ready.

Yes, I prefer the BPA as well, but there will be plenty of centers that will declare for the upcoming draft and we should be able grab one of the following: Hibbert, Thabeet, or Hardin.

People have said that about Avery Johnson... and Kenny Smith... and Jason Williams... and Chauncey Billups (2004)... and Derek Fisher... and Ron Harper...

All a championship team's point guard has to do is play team ball, initiate the offense, and not turn the ball over.

Rafer can do that; he IS an "above average floor general."

www.draftexpress.com definitely, they're much more spot on with their analysis. Also more in-depth.

I really don't watch much college ball, who's the better prospect, Thabeet or R. Lopez? Would you even consider those guys at our picks? I think we'd have to go C assuming Mutumbo retires, no point in selecting another PG late first round that can' contribute immediately.

Thabeet could be the defensive center we are looking for, but he is a big risk.

Robin Lopez is the ideal guy.... very solid Center that can dominate defensively, and will grow as a player offensively. He can play alongside yao, or hold down that spot if Yao is on the bench. Shouldnt take too much to move down to get him. People will be surprised how solid of a pro he will be.

I watched alot of college bball this season an I'll say this...

1) I dont like any of the big men in the draft. They are all either soft or unathletic. Neither of which the rockets need. We need length, strength, and defense. I wish Thabeet came out, even though he sucks on offense he has some of the best pure shot blocking ability i have ever seen. The only think about him is he isn't a strong rebounder.

2) I think the Rockets need to look at another shooter. I like Roby from Colorado. If he played anywhere else he might have been an All-American. He has a nice jumpshot and he attacks the basket.

3) Two people I also really like in this draft are CDR and Bill Walker. Walker is a beast. He got overshadowed by Beasley, but he was also very effective.
I think CDR could be a very good defender with his length, and he can put the ball on the floor and score. Both of these guys aren't very good shooters but I feel Walker has more upside.

I want to do some stat analysis on the draft (ORTG, DRTG, Win Shares, etc.) but just can't find the time...
