I know it appears that Frasor will get the 1st shot at closing, but I have to admit that makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable. I like Frasor and think he has good stuff. He has pitched well since coming back from Syracuse last season without his curveball. However, I think he is well placed in the set up role and should remain there. I am not sure he has the head for closing. He thinks too much, walks around the mound when he's behind in the count, etc.. I prefer a guy who just challenges with his best stuff and doesn't overreact if it's hit. Marcum could be that guy. Actually, he has as much or more experience closing than Frasor as he was the closer at Soutrhwest Missouri State where he also played SS.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

I would be in favour of a closer by committee approach, depending who is hot, and what the matchups are, and who is rested. Marcum closed in college did he? And did a fine job Sunday. Janssen closed one this year and has been solid season long but is probably best suited for multiple inning appearances.
Dont forget Frasor was our closer year end in 2004 before they moved Miguel there in 2005 and he did a pretty good job if I remember correctly. He is definitely pitching better after abandoning his curveball.

a) I don't really think Purcey will ever be ready
b) Plenty of people have skipped levels on the way to the bigs
c) My initial comment was really a joke about how ****ed we are
