Marvin and Billy have to go

Post#1 » by LL Cool Scott » Mon Apr 21, 2008 2:26 am

Marvin is the worst player on the court tonight. Playoffs show what kind of balls you have and Marvin clearly has none. He plays like a girl. He and Billy Knight MUST be gone at the end of the season. These two make me sick.

Marvin, Zaza, Solo, Billy, Speedy & Woodson gotta go. I wish we can go back giving the ball to Marvin more like we did in the beginning of the season. We need to go back on spreading the floor & shooting 3s. It would give Richardson & Salim playing time.

How in the hell was Marvin the worse player on the court? He barely is getting touches when on the court. he hasn't played great, but he has been the only one driving to the hoop and getting to the freethrow line.

With the stinker that Bibby is tossing up and you point at Marvin?

Bibby was by far the worst player on the court. His sole value is hitting shots and he missed way too many open ones tonight. He is also the one with "playoff' experience yet he was owned by Rondo. Marvin didn't play well but was any worse than Zaza or Josh Smith? I agree he does represent a huge mistake but singling him out in a game where we got blown out is pretty dumb.

I am not prepared to say Josh Smith played horrible. Like always, if his offense isn't there, he still gives you alot of other things.

He still had 3 blocks 2 steals and 7 boards in limited minutes because our coach is a moron.

Josh had no free throws and atleast 3 jumpshots(when he should be taken none). I believe two of his blocks were at the very beginning of the game as well. He played like crap.

I also have a question. Why are people obsessed with wanting to trade players while their value is low? If we trade Marvin after he sucks in the playoffs then chances are...we're not going to get anything good back for him. Does anybody remember what Chicago got for Tyson Chandler after his 2ppg 4 rpg series average against Miami?

Woody was the one to leave Bibby in after horrible play.He still played over 30 mins.Acie would have been pulled in 2 minutes if he played like Bibby.Just like AJ and Lue at the beginning of the year.Woody's ol trusty vets lol.

Trying to pin this loss on Marvin is just stupid. The whole team played bad and we lost end of story.

Are you his agent ? OMG, the guy had a bad game, just like Bibby, and even JJ. I don't get it here that this guy is untouchable, above any criticism. I have no idea how any GM, even BK would throw 10M at this guy. He's careless with the ball and lacks a bunch of fundamentals ( Rebound, box out, defense rotation ) and he's way too dumb to say the Hawks will shock the world when he plays totally out of control just like he did. Just watch Horford and tell me how can you think J. Smith is a great player.
GO HAWKS.

Marvin shouldn't go, BUT ACTUALLY BE OUR MAIN SCORER, I think.

Look, he was the 1st option in that one summer league tourney a couple years ago, and he was great. That Sonics game, we gave him the ball, he was great.

I think Marvin and Al is our only bright spots in our future that could last without JJ being here. Not saying Smoove won't, I'm just saying our offensive options here.

This series should tell us a lot whether Smoove is worth signing long term or not. He is the biggest enigma in the NBA today.

^ Well maybe not the biggest, because he prob also has the most talent of anyone, just isn't old enough yet to display it, and he could also go either way, bad or great, it's up to him.

But again about Marvin, he should get the ball alot and let him be our scorer. Marvin has the best jumper I ever seen I think.

Smith didnt play that great, but Woodson sat him way too long in the first half. What was he thinking?? Smoove gets a great block and runs down court for a layup. Its obvious he is getting momentum and might heat up, so Woody immediately sits him for the rest of the half?!?!? I dont get this coach

It's very difficult to evaluate or talent. Bad coaching effects the players, the team and the out-come of individual games. We should not be in the position of needing the play-offs to judge our players. A decent coach would have found things to exploit in the players and would have found a system to meld the talent into a team.

The Hawks made a BIG mistake by not getting rid of Woodson earlier.

It's decision time and we still don't know what to do with players Woodson has has for three or four years. We almost never look like a team in individual games. How many can you remember this season when they really looked like a cohesive team?

WE NEED A NEW COACH!

The Hawks time is coming, Woodson's should have come long ago.

Umm guys its one game... against the best team in the league... Dont rag on them just cause their first playoff game in 10 yrs was a stinker...

JJ has been here before too and except for Horford the whole team stank...

Theres at least 3 more games lets see...

True, the whole team stank. However, Marvin looked like he didn't even belong on the floor. I was watching this with a some friends of mine (mostly Boston fans) and they kept asking me - "Why does Marvin Williams even get playing time? He plays no defense, all he does is shoot midrange jumpers, and he looks genuinely lost and scared and confused out there..." They were dogging him the entire game. Then, I'm getting texts from my brother (who's at the game in Boston) asking me - "why does Marvin even start over Childress? He's completely useless out there - worst player on the court by far."

And I agree with all of them. Bibby and Johnson were awful, but they've proved their mettle in playoffs in the past. Smith had a bad offensive game, but he's the only top notch defender we have, and he has to match up with Garnett. I hope this was just first game jitters for Marvin, because he looked like he didn't belong out there.

Yeah, Horford was really the only guy who had a great game on offense and I don't expect him to get 7 offensive boards every game. Smith had a good game on defense and had blocked a couple in a row before getting his second foul and then sitting for the entire second Q. Chil also looked pretty good.

Other than that, what do you expect. We were playing the best defensive team in recent history with the most intense player in the game. Our team and players are too flawed to be able to overcome that in game 1.

As far as Marv. I certainly wouldn't be averse to trading him but I don't know who really wants him or what we'd get.

Marvin Williams, for all his detractors on this site, plays better post defense than Josh Smith. Marvin Williams, for all his detractors on this site, plays better perimeter defense than Josh Smith.

If they ever actually ran a play for this guy, I think many of you would change your mind on him quickly. The wings and Horford were the only reason the Hawks weren't blown out in the first half.

^ Thank you. Another Marvin Williams fan sighting. I thought I was the only one.

Marvin does not get the d*mn ball, and I would act lost on defense then too. But really, we are the Hawks, and before we start winning playoff games, who really wants to put in their best effort? Well, besides Horford, he is turning into one of my fav players on this team, even though I'm a UK fan in college b-ball.

Back to the point, it is that most of you are just mad about C-Paul and you all just need to stop that. Now for the ones who don't like Marvin because he "looks lost", well because no one runs plays for him in the game. That means no one wants him in the "TEAM" game out there.

Like I said before, give him the ball, and heck have him as our main scorer, and I bet he will put up great numbers, like he did when he was a #1 option in that summer league, and when we play the Sonics we give him the ball, and not only do we win, but he is the scorer.
