Peter May Leaving the Globe

He didn't post a link, but it is Jughead from Celticsblog, so I believe him. Good to see Peter go. He has been a hack now for years. There are much better NBA writers out there and now that they have Spears, no need for negative Peter, especially since there isn't any negative things to say.

Jackie MacMullen and now Peter May. The sad part is it's not like they are going to replace these guys.

Jackie MacMullian is leaving the Globe? That's too bad, I like her work.

But Peter May is **** dreadful. Good riddance to bad rubbish and I hope he ends up writing about the Knicks, Lakers, Pistons, or Sixers for his next gig!

How do we know he's not going to write for the Herald? Also, he's a writer for ESPN.com too.

That would suck if he wrote for the Herald, but why would they hire him? Don't they know he's awful?

Completely agree. He's been pathetic the last few years.

Like many Globe sportswriters, he's a much better writer than reporter or analyst.

What we want, of course, is the ones who excel at writing, reporting, AND analysis. But I can't think of any of those. The older generation who once met that standard is uniformly burned out -- or in Will McDonough's case dead -- and the young ones are each lacking in at least one of those areas.

Maybe for the C's. I think Mike Reiss and Chris Gasper do a great job with the Patriots. And Gordon Edes and Cafardo are pretty good on the Sox.

But with the C's we were stuck with dreck like May for too long.

Michael Holly (I mean Kevin Johnson- any LOST fans?) used to be good back in the day, at least in terms of potential, imo, I liked what he brought to the table. Spears is obviously great in terms of total package. I like Bulpett here and there. Ryan is a great writer but before this season the last time he paid attention was 20 years ago... hmmm... maybe we should all push for Gant to get a job over at one of the major papers?! Send em your ish G, except for maybe that one about zombies...

I think Murphy and Bulpett are great and Spears has been good this season. The old farts just aren't relevant anymore. They have lost touch with the sport, and hell I think that May lost touch with the C's. It is one thing when nobody gives a crap about the sport but people are used to a certain level of reporting for a championship caliber team in this town. Not going to miss him.

I still like Bob Ryan but he certainly isn't the C's authority like he used to be.
