IF Pistons Don't Get To The Finals
should they fire saunders?
what do you think
what do you think
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Lol its a guarantee that'll happen unless we get to a game 7 against Boston. Anything other then that will be considered 3 consecutive failed seasons in a row and he'll be fired, no doubt about it. And if we don't get past the 2nd round, the team will be shaken up completly. Rebuilding mode. But we have the tools to start a successful rebuilding process in Stuckey, Maxiell, Johnson and Afflalo.

No doubt that Flip would be fired.

Typical Piston homer fan: "Blame it on Flip"
Rather, they should be blaming it on Joe Dumars, keeping old guys around instead of trading them while their value is relatively high. Joe is overrated by Piston fans and I talk to these loonies everyday here. The truth is they were overrated. Most of their best players are on the wrong side of 30. Those guys are never going to improve. He handed Flip an old aging team that got some nice young players on the bench.

Flip isn't a championship-level coach though..I've been saying it since they hired him..if a team with that much talent and experience implodes so often, it has to be because of the coach..we all know the Pistons players aren't mentally weak, it's just bad strategies from the coach IMO..Lebron was amazing in that game last year, but I hated the strategy against him for most of those points..

What old guys should we have traded?

Of our best players Sheed is 33, Billups 31, Hamilton 30 and Prince 28. That's not "the wrong side of 30". I guess Danny Ainge better start trading away his old guys while they have value (Pierce 30, Allen 32, Garnett 31). Even Phx with Nash, Hill, O'Neal look pretty good and they are 34,35,36 respectively.
And Saunders was handed a team consisting of Wallace 30, Wallace 30, Billups 28, Prince 25, Hamilton 27....old you say? He now has the deepest Pistons team since 2004 and well rested starters (after burning them out the previous 2 seasons)....it's do or die for him. The players, well they have to be held accountable too, but I'd want to see them together for @least 1 season post Flip.

They shouldn't make the mistake that the timberwolves did. They fired Dwayne Casey when he had them at .500 (20-20). After that, they went downfall with Randy Whitman (who is now fired). Some organizations don't know how valuable it is to have won 59 games. I don't think they should fire him if they don't get to the finals. After all they might be playing Boston in the ECF, and it's not an easy task to play Boston. I don't care what kind of players you have, you need a good coach to win 59 games. Put Mike Woodson in Detroit and tell me if they win 59 games.

Yeah but were saying if we get dominated by Boston, Flip should get kicked out. If its a close series, then I have no problem with him staying. But anything other then an at least close 6 or more game series against the Celtics is considered a let down.
The regular season really doesn't matter. Like ask anyone in the league, the Pistons have one of the most talented rosters, they just can't put it together and a big part of that falls on the coach.
If we lose to anyone other then Boston in the East, the Pistons need to blow up and start over. As much as I love my team and enjoy watching the chemistry they have, its better to start over at the right time, then hold onto past memories, trying to reclaim a glory they won't ever achieve again. We have a future stud in Stuckey if the end of the year was any clear sign of things to come, a solid prospect in Amir, a great young sixth man in Maxiell and Tayshaun is still decently young enough to keep with the new core.

He is one of the last guys you want to employ a defensive mindset on your team. He'll throw some zone into the mix and never knows when to use it properly. But I guarantee you will shoot more threes then you do now, and Bosh will look better on offense, but offense isn't where you guys need help at.

Rasheed and Billups have both had very solid seasons, not to mention McDyess has been consistently solid for us. And Rip and Tay have been themselves, but they haven't slipped a bit. The vast improvement on this Piston team is the bench, or the "Zoo Crew":
Rodney Stuckey
Arron Afflalo
Jarvis Hayes
Amir Johnson
Jason Maxiell
This group is collective under 23 years old, and have won big games on their own. We don't need to replace our older guys, as we've already integrated young talent who can take over when they start to really slip. Add in another 1st rounder in addition to Chieck Samb, and we continue to look in good shape.
Dumars has continued to do an excellent job and is still rightfully considered one of the best GMs in the game.
I'm tired of dealing with you loonies constantly.
(I do agree that unless we win, or at least get to and be competitive in the Finals, Flip will be fired. Bring on JVG.)
