I personally think that Love would be PERFECT for the kings. We keep on trying to be something we're not, but this team cannot be a defensive minded squad, so I now have a new moddo. If you can't join em, beat em. If we had TWO amazing scorers and passers down low along with the scoring from martin and hopefully some kind of miricle draft trade where we get rid of miller or artest or some big contract to get an Augustine/Westbrook/Bayless. That would be spectacular. Look at the future.
PG: Augustine
SG: Martin
SF: Garcia
PF: Love
C: Hawes
Now that would be a lineup to reckon with, it would be an offensive demon. PLUS, our D wouldnt be terrible, both hawes and love can block shots and rebound a little, and augustine isnt bad. This could be quite a team if we let go of our trade bait while we can (Miller/Artest).

I think you're overrating Love and Spencer's lateral quickness by a lot. Our D would be horrible, Martin is decent and Garcia is good but Augustine is only 5'11'' and both Love and Hawes are really slow. We'd get killed by opposing PGs and PF/Cs.
I like Arthur and Speights WAAAAAAAAAY more than Love. He should be last on our "to draft" list. Oh and recently on KHTK 1140 Reggie said he wanted a smash mouth team, and that Brad is a "finnesse player". I'm guessing he would feel the same way about Love, who got absolutely shut down the moment he faced someone as tall as he is and athletic(he also allowed Dorsey 15 rebounds in that game, Dorsey got 2 when he went up against Arthur in the championship game). Love is not a "smashmouth" player, quite the opposite really. My point is if Reggie has had enough "finesse" players like Brad, I don't see him being eager to coach the softest team in the league with a Hawes/Love frontline.

Here's a new 1(I'll admit I got the trade I'm making from someone else on a different site though):
Artest/Miller to Miami for Shawn Marion
Draft Earl Clark
Re-sign Beno
I really like the way that team ends up. Beno/Martin/Cisco/Marion/Spencer would be a great offensive team IMO, and Marion's a good rebounder and versatile defender. Spencer has size but he needs an agile defender next to him. They wouldn't be great on defense but I actually think they'd be better than what we have now. Losing Ron hurts, but Marion is a much better defender and REBOUNDER than Mikki is. He can also switch off on PGs or wing players on the pick and roll. Averages 11-12 RPG and would let Cisco start.
Offensively that team would be really nice. The spacing would be great since all 5 players can shoot, so you could really do whatever you want as far as cutting/movement, drive and kick, or posting up Spencer goes. Beno would have another athlete on the break with Marion and that would be fun to watch.
Earl Clark is kinda described as a tweener, and I might be reaching for him, but he is a hard nosed player. He's a crazy good rebounder, shotblocker, and he's pretty strong. He has nice athleticism too and he's a legit 6'9''. His offense is still developing though, but if we were a more free flowing team that gets up and down the floor well I think he could contribute with his athleticism. Decent mid range shot(10-15 feet) but can't really hit 3s.

I'd do Martin + 12th for Brand! I think Magette would have to opt out for it to work and we'd have to throw in like an SAR or Sheldon Williams. I personally don't think Brand is getting a raise from his $16M salary, and since we are stuck with Miller why not go for it now? A vet PG that is a distributor would be a must, and Cisco must start at the 2 over Salmons.

Assumptions: We aren't winning anytime soon. No (Please Use More Appropriate Word) deals (ie. Gasol for Memphis) happens in our favor. Everyone recieves the pick they are statistically favored for. Artest does not opt out.
2008-2009 Goals: To find out the true potential of different players on our team. Find out exactly if they will be able to be great or not. Set up the team so we have the best possible future.

No way. Josh is a huge piece for their future and they trade him for Brad who might make them a slightly better team for 2 years? The #12 pick isn't worth that. Smith isn't a franchise player, but he's a damn good young player.

I'd do that in a heartbeat then! I'm just pretty low on Shelden, I think he sucks and if we can get a good rotational player for him with a mid 2nd round pick, I'm ALLLLLLLL for it.

Yeah I can agree with that...
what about Nick Lowry?
Shelden/#46 for Lowry?
You mean Kyle Lowry??? But yeah I like his game. So I would do that trade in a minute. To be honest I think Boby in his prime was better than a lot of PGs, so if KL could be like that I'd make that deal. I like his game a lot honestly. If Shelden works on losing weight I think he can be like a Kurt Thomas type player though, which would be useful(he'd have to work on his flopping though).

So what do you all think of this type of deal? If the Raptors want to keep and invest into Jose Calderon they probably need to give him a 6-7 million dollar deal. Which IMO means Ford would have to be on the outs due to the fact that you shouldn't have 15 million dollars tied up into two PG's.
The Raptors have needed help on perimeter D and interior D IMO.
Maybe a package of Salmons/Sperm Whale for TJ Ford could be mutually beneficial.
Kings look to draft: Love/Speights/Arthur at #12.
Kings roster:
C: Miller/Hawes
PF: Moore/#12
SF: Artest/Garcia
SG: Martin/Douby
PG: Ford/Beno
I like that as our main 10 man rotation
SAR/K-9/#43/#46 would round out our roster.
