A better stat to show Paul's dominance may be this one: Paul 38, Mavs 34. That was the score for the first 23:02 of the second half. From halftime until he checked out to a rousing ovation with 58 seconds left, Paul had 24 points and seven assists, accounting for 38 New Orleans points. Up to that point in the half, the entire Dallas team had scored only 34.

So what does Celtics 8-2 record without KG speak :noway:

I understand you want to downplay Kobe's impact Miami's Finest, but again did Martin guard Kobe at the 3pt line have nothing to do with Gasol's impact in the paint?

And they had a 12pt lead when Kobe went to the bench before they blew it open

At the 5:18 3rd quarter Lal 78-66 lead (12pt lead)
Kobe get substituted

End 3rd quarter
Lal 97-78 (17pt lead)

So they increased the Lead from 12 to 17 when Kobe went to the bench, they increased the lead by 5 with Kobe on the bench.

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY Miami's Finest?

ok paul had a great game but still doesn't mean his supporting cast isn't great. oh and kobe outscored the maves in three quarters 63-62 i believe so individually outscoring the mave's isn't that hard

But it's a joke to compare it with Kobe's. Kobe would still be whining about needing stars if he was on the Hornets.

CP3 has a current All-Star, a former All-Star and the best shooter in the game, and one of (if not the) best rebounders in the game.

I highly doubt Kobe would be complaining if he played for the Hornets.

Anyone that even remotely suggests or implies that CP3 doesnt have a phenominal supporting cast has very little knowledge of how basketball works.

Yeah I agree, but so does Kobe. Kobe has the better coach, better bench and better front court IMO.

I honestly think if you take away Kobe and Paul off their teams right now, the Lakers would have the better record.

Gasol/Odom>West/Chandler without the stars.

So I take it those Lakers fans who were like "I'd rather have Turiaf over West any day of the week" have changed their tune?

Some of us have been clamoring that the Hornets (West/Chandler especially) are better than people give them credit for, but its kind of funny that it takes Chris Paul challenging Kobe Bryant in the MVP race to bring it out and/or get people to admit it (motives aside).

I don't think CP3 can get MVP after this year until he gets in his prime. LeBron will be able to win MVP next year, IMO, and the C's are still going to be around.

Better coach? Maybe... But isnt Byron gonna win COTY?

Better bench? Which would you prefer...

Walton, Sasha, Farmar and Turiaf or
Wells, Pargo, Butler and Armstrong/Ely?

The Lakers probably have the better bench, but not by a whole lot.

And better front court? West/Chandler is better than Gasol/Odom. Plus the Lakers have had the Gasol/Odom frontcourt for what, 25% of the entire season? The Hornets have had their frontcourt for about 95% of the season... A huge difference.

No joke... West has been an 18-8 type player for 3+ seasons now.

Don't hold it against Paul for making the players around him better, what type of numbers did he put up before playing with Paul? Kobe playing with several former all-stars, some in their prime like Odom, struggled to make 8th place and didn't even make the playoffs in the past putting up the same numbers he did this year. If Kobe could complain about needing stars on the Lakers roster this year minus Gasol he would certainly do the same if he was on the Hornets minus Paul.

Gasol played 25 games for the Lakers. Please. Bynum played in 35, and only started half of those. Kwame Brown started the rest.

Derek Fisher wasn't even a starter last year.

Odom is a chronic underachiever.

Kobe has carried his team all season, the last third of it with a torn ligament in his shooting hand.

Get real.
