George Karl
George Karl is a flawed head coach. He stated that the Nuggets would rather have faced the hornets. Even if this is true you should never admit this allowed. It tells the Lakers you are mentally weak, and hurts the confidence of your team. His inexplicable unwillingness to play J.R Smith hurts the Nuggets.
He cost the sonics any chance against the bulls by being unwilling to put Payton on Jordan at the beginning of the season. There is a history of George Karl teams underachieving, most notably in 94. He feuds with players. Karl is the type of coach who is only good for a year or two, and then things fall apart.

Yeah he makes some poor decisions, I'm pretty sure he won't be back next season
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Didnt Dirk say that same thing about LA?
Notes: Rookie Rudy Gay twisted his left ankle trying to guard McGrady late in the third quarter and limped to the bench. He returned with 5:51 left, then returned to the bench about a minute later - http://www.nba.com/games/20061231/MEMHOU/recap.html

I'm not a Karl fan, but what does that even mean, and how does it manifest itself because the Lakers know about it?

they dont feel confident in their own team. If the Lakers know that Denver feels they cant keep up with LA then it just plays to there advantage.

To me it just seems like he's trying to light a fire under his team.
He's basically saying they aren't good enough to play against the Lakers.
If I was on that team, I know would definitely come out to play after hearing something like that from my coach.
However, I don't like Karl that much either.

How?
Like what will the Lakers do differently than if they didn't know?

yeah, I remember those finals in 96 against the Sonics. I still cannot figure out why in the world he didn't let Payton guard Jordan. Payton was the best perimeter defender at that time, and I rmeember he only let him guard Jordan in that last game for a little bit if I recall correctly. Then after the series was over, either Carl said "if we meet them next year, Payton will guard Michael the whole time" or Payton maybe said that same thing..
But yeah, Carl makes many questionable moves..
