Barkley: Jazz and Lakers are the best in the West

Post#1 » by Farsi Man » Tue Apr 22, 2008 4:17 am

This is what Charles said during the halftime show. Do you guys agree with this? And if the Lakers and Jazz were to advance who wins in 7? Assuming the Lakers don't have Bynum and assuming they do.

Lakers in 5 vs. Jazz in 2nd round. The Jazz shouldn't be a problem for the Lakers unless the Lakers make them one.

i always felt jazz were strong, but to say top 2? I honestly think jazz are stronger than lakers. Top 2 in west i'd say are jazz and spurs.

Why do you say 5? I mean the Lakers might have problems with the pick and roll, the Jazz's bread and butter play. The Lakers can probably get like 100 or 105 points but can they keep the Jazz under 100?

Spurs are better than Jazz IMO. But the Lakers would beat the Jazz in 6 or 7 games.

One Man. Kobe Bryant. Utah has no chance against him. No chance, if T-Mac almost beat them with a sucky team, then Kobe with 50 and better talent can get them too. I understand the Lakers defense isn't as good as Houston's, but I still think they have an advantage from 3 and on offense.

You got to be a good road team to beat the Jazz. And the Lakers are. We beat them on the road without Bynum, but they beat us without Boozer. It's hard to say, but if we have Bynum we should beat them in 6. I don't see them having a chance of slowing down Pau and Bynum. Without Bynum it's a tossup. Kobe plays very well against the Jazz so i say we beat them in 7.

I'm of course biased though.

I dont know man. This Utah has SO much firepower it's crazy. the only team that i think can really beat them is someone with a lock down defense proram like San antonio

Guys like Okur and boozer are tough matchups, BUT, I thin the length of Odom and Gasol might be the key here. The lakers frontcourt can neutralize the jazz one, and then there is no one that can touch kobe.

I'm really rooting for the lakers to put these piece fo trash jazz out.

i think the Jazz are underrated, they remind me of the 03-04 Pistons in the way the team is constructed.

How do you think Boozer and Okur would do guarding Odom and Gasol?

How? The Pistons were a great defensive team with a decent offense, this Utah team is a great offensive team with an ok defense.

Lakers in six, if the rockets had a full roster then they would be fine and would beat the Jazz. The Jazz just doesn't do well against teams we All-Star or Super Star wings so this is a no go. The Jazz will be hard pressed to stop Bryant while trying to contain him Gasol and Odom will have a feild day. Gasol already showed that he can play at such a high level, the way Odom has been playing is out of this world and I really don't think that he will fall off at all. Lakers in 6.....

Lakers, Jazz, and Spurs. IMHO.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Can't really disagree with what he said. But it seems like the media doesn't give enough credit to the Spurs.

I think my team (The Jazz) is pretty damn underrated but losses like the the last game against San Antonio and @ home vs. the Lakers really make it somewhat understandable.

We don't matchup well with the Lakers at all, give us NO's, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix and maybe San Antonio and I'd be very confident in a series vs. them, the Lakers though, they give us all sorts of headaches.

This Jazz fan is on record as tipping the Lakers in six games, should we beat the Rockets.

Utah can score with the best of 'em, but the defense is just not up to championship par. We're a great rebounding team, but the opponent has to miss first. It is conceivable that Kobe Bryant will throttle us. Over and over.

It's common knowledge that those teams that get the stops when they need them ultimately triumph in this league. That's why the Spurs are always in with a hope.

I don't understand how Chuck would rate the Jazz over the Spurs...

I think Spurs are right at the top until proven otherwise.
And puhleeese, stop with this "T-MAc almost beat Jazz team" stuff.
It's not even funny.

I'd put the Spurs ahead of the Jazz, but I really like that team.

They generally got the short end of the stick when it came to predictions, they could ultimately come out of the west.

They just need a good 2 guard & a good defensive centre to complete that team. Of course, each team has it's flaws.
