Manu comes off the bench because Finley, IMO, is a better role player at the SHOOTING guard position.

congrats to manu! i felt that he derserved this award last year but i guess it was just due time.

for those who dont follow the spurs, manu coming off the bench is due the spurs offensive struggles. in 2004 when manu earned the starting role, he was estatic, however in 2005, most notably in the playoffs, manu was sent to the bench becaues pop said something like "no have no bench." it turned out to be a championship type move.

also i want to note that manu was both sad and disappointed when he was "demoted." he expressed this on his blog saying that he will continue to play even though he didnt embrace this role. but like a true class act he never questioned it publicly and accepted pops decision.

another reason who someone already mentioned i think is finley is A LOT more effective as a starter. he just cant come off the bench or else he absolutely blows.

Congratulations to Ginobili. Everyone knew 100% that he was going to win it and it wasn't even close. Good job.

The award is kind of silly when the 2nd best player on the team (best offensive player) is coming off the bench and playing the 3rd most minutes. They definitely should change it. Any All Star could choose to come off the bench and win the award every year.
