How many big shots has Amare hit? How many boneheaded plays did he make at the end?
Pick apart my post. Please.

^, Certainly Charley Rosen agreed with you in regards to Amare's mistakes in Game 1.
But, like I posted in another thread, and I will do so again:
- Why are people expecting a 36 year old Shaq to slow down the greatest PF of all time who is still only 31 years old?
The team BLEW out the Spurs in the first half with Shaq on the bench!
He plays major minutes in the second half and Phoenix lost!
They were - 6 with him on the floor!
Why is everybody counting on him to save the team?
Remember how Dikembe was supposed to stop Shaq in the 2001 Finals? Shaq absolutely destroyed him in that series.
Remember how Ruben Patterson called himself The Kobe stopper?
I hate how the media loves to build up 1 on 1 match-ups.
Unfortunately they did the same this time and Duncan absolutely destroyed Phoenix in Game 1.
I feared all along that all this talk about Shaq stopping Duncan, blah blah blah was only going to motivate Duncan and he was absolutely fantastic in Game 1.
Grant Hill's injury really concerned me; he was clearly not 100% in Game 1 and if he can't go, I hope Diaw replaces him.
Boris can do some of the things Grant can; rebound, pass, handle the ball.
Plus, Bowen won't do anything offensively against him.

Guys, Shaq has never gotten the respect of the media or the refs. Wilt was correct- nobody roots for Goliath. He's always been called for stupid fouls because of his size, but he routinely has to deal with hitting, grabbing, holding, and physical play. Couple that with the fact that they are playing the man that only rivals MJ as the most protected player of all time by the refs, and it will be a very long series! Shaq gets fouls called on him for doing the EXACT SAME THINGS as Duncan does in the post. All you have to do is watch the games as proof. I watched Ginobilli shoulder block Amare into a moving Kurt Thomas who flopped upon being bumped by a falling Stoudamire, and Amare was called for the foul. Ladies and gentlemen, your San Antonio Sterns!!!
It has been that way since Duncan came into the league. For heaven's sake, they fired Joey Crawford because he had the nerve to throw Duncan out of a game!! Duncan says all he did was smile at Joey, but Raja got tossed for smiling a couple of weeks ago, and nothing happened to that official. Go figure! I hate the Sterns because they rely on the refs to win games; they don't play defense, they just flop and get the calls constantly. In the reg. season, the calls were a little less lobsided, and look how that turned out!

Jaypo,
This is what Skip Bayless and Scoop Jackson said this morning about Shaq's complaints about the officiating.
They absolutely blasted Shaq for those comments he made about the Spurs flopping.
Skip said he thinks Shaq can't play anymore and is just making excuses and trying to use this as a way to get the referees to change the way they referee him.
Scoop said Shaq needs to change his style of play because they've been calling these fouls on him in recent years and he hasn't adjusted.
Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

I think Skip has always blasted Shaq. They're right to a certain extent. They have been calling those fouls more on him in recent years. But that doesn't change the fact that the Spurs are a bunch of soft floppers. How come Bowen can knee people in the groin, kick their legs, and do things that can seriously hurt players, but he rarely gets called for that crap. However, when Shaq turns into someone guarding him, he is whistled for the offensive foul because of his size?
It seems the media has been delighted that Shaq has lost a step. I don't understand it. This is one of very few pro athletes that are positive for the sport and rarely have any negativity associated with them, but they constantly get blasted by the media.
To touch on Skip's point, Shaq can't dominate for a whole season anymore. That has as much to do with the new rules and new way that the game is officiated as it does with his age. And if I'm Shaq and I've dominated the league for 15 years, I shouldn't have to change my game. The problem is that the game needs to be called down the middle, not in the favor of the people that try to make up for their deficiencies by having the refs bail them out. Vlade started it because he couldn't guard anyone, and all the Euro players brought that crap overseas to the NBA. It makes me sick. Watch that flop by Nowitzki the other night against the Hornets. The league rewards all those baby soft pansies that can't man up and play defense, so they fall down and hope the ref bails them out. 99% of the time, they do get the call. I used to watch Reggie Miller run around screens and jump into people and fall down to get them in foul trouble. It drove me up a freakin' wall! Can you imagine if while Jordan was dominating the NBA, they suddenly changed the rules to dissallow Jordan from taking jump shots? That's basically what they've done to Shaq. They call BS fouls on him because of his size. Do you remember at the beginning of this season that they made a rule stating that if an O. player drove into a D. Player, and the D. player jumps straight up in an attempt to block the shot, even though there's contact, the D player will not have a foul called on him? However, I watched TD drive straight into Shaq, Boris, and Amare and get fouled almost every time. But there's no double standard for TD? What a bunch of crap. He's been protected since he came into the league while being on the dirtiest team in the league. If you gave Udonis Haslem the same respect from the officials that TD has gotten for as many years as he has, he would be the best PF ever.

That first call against Shaq when Oberto flopped absolutely infuriated me.
The refs should be ashamed of themselves for calling that foul.
That was one of the worst calls in NBA history.
Absolutely disgraceful.
Just look at the replay! He barely touches him and he went down like he got shot.
Flopping is horrible for the NBA; to see people play soft and start flopping really annoys me.
As a viewer, nothing annoys me more than flopping.
