I would take Deron over any SG/SF not named Kobe or LeBron.

He does, he has a reputation and he is a streak shooter. Running an offense, Deron Williams is definitely much much better. Defensively, well Deron isn't too bad. T-Mac had 2 blocks last night, and so did Williams.

Also, Deron and T-Mac average about the same in blocks(McGrady +.1) and steals(Deron +.1) too.

Rebounds, well Deron averages 3 RPG, while McGrady averages 5.1 RPG. But Deron averages 10.5 APG and McGrady averages 5.9.

Shooting percentages, well you know the story, McGrady would have an orgasm with the efficient scoring by Williams. McGrady 0.419 FG%, while Deron has 0.507 FG%. 3 point shooter? Deron .395 3FG%, McGrady 0.292%

I just don't see the argument of All-Around. Defensively, man-to-man he is in the elite two with Chauncey.

No offense, but McGrady isn't having one of his best years, What he has left is reputation.. Even on this series, people say that you can't blame it on him.

T-Mac: 16/43
D-Will: 15/27

Just because D-Will takes less shots doesn't mean he is not as good as a scorer.

15/27

In a hypothetical world, for one season, where neither will get injured?
Or in the real world, where Deron is 23, only getting better, and his played 80+ games every year, whereas TMac is 28, on the downswing of his career, and has never had an 80 game season in his life?
If you want a meaningful answer, be more specific with your question. For me the answer is Deron either way, but it's much, much closer with the first option.

As a first option I'd take McGrady - no questions asked. Williams wouldn't of been able to get this Rockets team (over the past 2 years) as many wins as McGrady has.

That doesn't change the fact that McGrady was undoubtedly better in his prime than Boozer or Deron will ever be. Trying to make your player look better by comparing him to a guy on the decline who plays a different position non the less is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

Good to see you completely go off on a tangent. The fact that you didn't refute the statement speaks volumes in itself. 8)

Neither you and I don't know how good will Williams be on his prime, and remember that he is a PG, he isn't an SG, and by the ideal definition his role is different. The fact is that Deron Williams is on his third year, and he runs the most efficient basketball teams offensively (sorry CP3 or Stevie).

T-Mac was an amazing scorer, but Williams prime numbers, will be defined differently.

At any rate, your statement is just silly, we both don't know if Deron will get injured and leave the game forever, or come on and average a season of 25 PPG and 15 APG. Just like the Chris Paul and Deron Williams debate, one thing we have learned is that the debate is never over.

TMac takes way too many jumpers and just has a poor shot selection. Give me Deron.

are you kidding me... im a rockets fan... and never been a fan of mcgrady

id take deron now or future... and im assuming its a healthy tmac...

tmac has no heart... never did never will... hes one of those players that just does his job and collects a pay check and nothing more...

i want a player who is willing to leave it all on the line...

and no real superstar will ever let his team lose 19 in a row like he did in orlando... and i dont want to hear anything about winning 22in a row either...

GIVE ME DERON

If this is ORL TMac that had a Jordan-esque season in 02-03, I'm taking him in a heartbeat. But the chucker TMac lately, it's Deron.

When you take into account age easily Deron.

I'm not certain he'll be anywhere near the player T-Mac was in his prime. But Deron has a lot more gas left in the tank to play at an elite level.

I'll take Williams, he's young talented and has good size for a point guard oh and he's a top point guard in the league.

Deron will never reach McGrady's prime. But if it's for right now and the future, you have to choose Deron.

McGrady is turning 29 this year, and his injuries keep piling up. He seems to be past his prime already too (cut way short because of injuries).

Over the past few years I feel that T-mac has dropped a tier. Injuries are still a concern and he doesn't bring it every night. I still think he has the ability to do so but for whatever reason he doesn't. Also Deron ranks higher in a position that is harder to fill.

Deron for me.
