I don't think the Warriors will take a next step until they start running sets from a low post threat....(In fact anyone notice how the Warriors totally went away from having Baron and Jackson on the low block?).
Anyway....The whole offseason should be about "how to get AB and BW able to be effective on the post and pass out of it to open shooters if they can command a double team. And if we went to that kind of post offense...suddenly POB becomes an option....given enough touches and confidence....
A guard drive and kick offense just doesn't work at all against a zone...which is definitely an achillies heel for the Warriors this year...
Baron and Monta and Jackson trying to drive past two or three defenders just doesn't work for decent defensive teams and playoff hoops...

id rather have a free flowing P&R offense with lots of rotating down low between Goose and Wright.
When a zone comes up, sjax or baron flashing to the high post, looking for a high low, or a kick to the corners (or even the block extended if Wright can get consistent with a 10 to 15 foot jumper)
This is not to say i dont want to run plays for our bigs, i just don't want to slow things down and expect doubles downlow, and then rely on an inside outside type of offense. Id rather keep the ball rotating, wait for rotations to cause mismatches, and get our wings to learn to make a quick pass into the post. 3 foot jump hook city!!

our problem this year was that Nellie just expected Baron and monta to continue finding spaces to the hoop against a zone...
i think i recall one or two games in which he put our playmakers in the middle of the zone to run it from the elbow, rather than from up top..
i remember us being fairly effective against the zone with a simple adjustment.

your right, but i believe that is the case. Goose has a low post game, and it will get better. Wright can definitely have a block extended or high post jumper. These are things i'm banking on.
My main point is that i want to run things through Guards or a small forward with vision. I want to definitely get looks inside, and looks to our PF for midrange jumpers, i just want to get them through ball movement and P&R situations.
i dont want to get open shots through the post. Meaning, get it down low, and then rely on Goose or wright to make a scoring move, or demand a double and find an open guy. I want them to score on quick moves as soon as they get the ball. Keep the ball moving so the defense stays spread out, make a crisp post entry pass, and let goose make a quick move to score.
I like our free flow offense, i just hate the laziness, and the lack of looking inside while the defense makes rotations.
with monta and goose, its outside inside offense for me.

What I want is the W's to have a variety of tactics. I've pitched Hansborough,Love,Jaso Thompson as picks or a trade for a bruiser like Powe because we just lack what they bring. B Wright has a lot of nice stuff-but untill he weighs in at 220 or more-he's not a good "Heavy Traffic" option. Sometimes it IS a plus to have 4 or 5 guys on the floor who can shoot a 3. Somtimes all those guys are hitting 25% and we get no boards on the other 75%. Several teams have adapted rather well to all the smallball stuff and set up an ambush for us.
Wright CAN play with Beans. Wright does not park in the paint,he's got to be active,to move around the midrange and see the opportunities to zip to the rim.
It works both ways. IF the opponent has to respect some inside threat-we get better looks on the perimeter. We have 2 G's,Baron and Monta who are real good at drive and dish, but there has to be someone to dish too. If Biedrins is the only option inside,it's easier to defense.

I wouldn't mind seeing POB and Goose getting a lot more offensive work done in the off-season...and then pick up a rebounding bruiser to cover. Monta will just get better...Belli should get smarter, and hopefully better on D, or whatever Nelly thinks he's lacking, and Buike should work on his handles.
Whatever happens, I get the feeling that we won't change our roster too much. I can feel the front office banking on another Western team falling off and us just getting better.
