Luis Scola Issue

with understanding your concerns about the calls in this series , objectively , what do you think about scola's sportmanship and basketball ethic? do you think his behaviours on the court affect your team's concentration in a negative way? i think this must be one of the things that you have to question instead of accusing refs.

What? I assume you're referring to some negative behaviour, of which I haven't seen any out of Scola. Please elaborate.

What? Scola's fire, heart and determination are exactly what this team needs and lacks at times. You should elaborate. Scola's only problem in my eyes is that he can't jump worth a damn and makes every single layup an adventure because of it. Too many fadeaway layups :noway:

I don't see any negative behavior from Scola. The refs blew that call last night but thats NBA officiating. The dude wasn't even looking at AK...he saw AK flop(good move by AK btw) and he thought it was a callable foul. Nonetheless Scola will have to learn and I hope he is learning that he can't do those types of things. Was it a foul? Yes it was. But at that stage in the game its not callable. What Scola needs to understand is that you can't take that risk b/c you don't determine what is callable and what isn't.

He didn't have to block AK's path to McGrady...McGrady would have put the ball on the ground and drove it before he passed had AK gotten to him.

Luis Scola is a foulmouth hoodlum with temper problems and bad attitude. He is worse than Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest combined.

Ship him off for a second rounder.

Yeah Scola overacts a bit on calls,but less than Motumbo. Scola's let the threat of getting his shot blocked get into his head and he's just not going strong and making the refs call it. He's wasting time spinning,faking and he's letting the Jazz defenders recover.

What are you talking about? He's the furthest thing from a distraction, I'm not even sure where you could get that from. Like Vator said his heart, hustle and winning attitude is what we sorely need. He made a dumb play the last game (also major flopping by Kirilenko, think the dude was shot the way he fell) but I don't see how that's a distraction.

not a chance.
if anything a player crying (literally) for playing time is distracting to a team. plus the biggest negative behavior ive seen all series is when boozer slapped scola's arm down for no reason and didnt get a T. thats physical contact.
theres nothing to question when it come to scola's attitude.

If Scola would stop all those damn fadeaways he would up his avg by atleast 3-5 pts per game.. He plays with heart, passion and desire.....He is a great piece towards a championship dream for the Rockets..very good pick up!

Jumping is only a tool to aid in getting off or erasing a shot.

Chuck Hayes and Karl Malone both demonstrate that you can "block" a lot of shots without jumping.
Charles Oakley showed that you can rebound like a wildman without jumping by employing a lot of great positioning, anticipation, and hustle.
Luis Scola shows that you can be somewhat undersized and still score efficiently without jumping. (I don't think McHale jumped much either.)

Is there anything else it's used for?
I'm more impressed at just how much he manages to do without ever leaving his feet.

(I've read his vertical is around 30 inches too, it's just that using it is not part of his game)

The only thing he really seems to have problems with is splitting a two or three man defensive wall (typically made of starters). That's fine, because he's not normally meant to be a primary option. But it also means we're a bit screwed right now.
