''The main reason I'm disappointed in the young people in this league is because they look at Michael and they don't understand him,'' Magic Johnson says. ''They see the greatest, but they don't know why he was so great. They miss the point. They don't remember or realize that when he first came into the league all he did was drive and dunk on everybody. He worked hard to add a jump shot, the 3-point shot, the post-up moves, the passing, the defense and the leadership."
great!

great!
I cannot think of more INSPIRING commercials then mr. jumpman become legendary #23. perhaps because its in my prophecy to be be rich and retired off a certain private equity stock at 23! thats what i call become legendary. what can i say the prophet wrote my destiny.
seriously though get out of here! these commercials are absolutely awesome. maybe they only inspire people who actually were able to appreciate the beautify of Jordan when he played.
My fav commercial out of the bunch is when this kid is in the gym working on in his game lights out and then we go to a black screen and Jordan pops in saying "THERE ARE NO CINDERALLAS" becoming legendary jumpman yada yada. wow how real is that, if u cant feel that then your NUMB!

Jordan didn't mean to ruin it but he did. Players watching his highlights believed they should try to emulate those highlights in every game they player. When in fact the Jordan's highlight reels were compiled from a thousand games. Most of Jordan's games featured nothing fancy or flashy. He was a very textbook player.
uhhh.... your actually completely wrong about that. jordan had flash yet he was also a hardworking textbook playing leader in every game. your a confused individual i will leave it at that

I think you are missing the point. A lot of players want the Jordan highlight reel plays but don't put in the time to work on all aspects of their game. That's why Jordan has been accused of ruining the game. A lot of players today don't work on the fundamentals, because those never make highlight shows.
I blame the downfall on highlights rather then 1 individual.

MJ is talking here about his legacy to the game and he probably contributed more to the conceptualization of this commercial than the other ones that came before it. Though lately, his commercials have become more personal so others may perceive it becoming preachy. Hey, he may be a douchebag personally but you cannot question his dedication to the game.

Its amazing how little the posters in this thread know about Michael Jordan. I've seen every game available on dvd of Jordan (recorded by fans over the last 25 years) including North Carolina games and Bulls games from the 80s. Some of the 12-year-olds here really need to watch them before they reply to my posts.

No because just about every thread you have to make some stupid reference to Kobe!
Yes we get that Kobe is shooting 45% we don't need your amazing insights because "you" think he doesn't know how to play fundamentally.
And:
I think MANY people will disagree with you!
This is why we have "superstar" guards shooting only 45% from the floor in their prime.

And:
"Tim Duncan is the only player in the NBA today who reminds me of Michael Jordan. The only player with the skill level and fundamental polish of Michael Jordan. He also is the most clutch."
I think MANY people will disagree with you!

Took you long enough to come up with ?
It's a f'n commercial, take it as it is. Don't like it, don't watch it.
Btw, that is a great Fn commercial.
Heh? What is that supposed to mean?
Do you think I sit down and have a schedule of the commercials that will air and tune in to watch them?
They come on the damn TV while I'm watching, that's why I watch them, not because I choose to....what a dumb comment.

and Ive seen probably everyone of his pro games and he did something amazing basically every game but the thing is he wasnt trying to he just played and after awhile you realize that you became numb to it and somewhat spoiled . This was also before youtube and espn basically so not many people outside of his region got to see him every game .
The stuff people ooh and ahh about nopw he was doing every game .Double clutch circus shots ...........he made practically every game If he played right now omg he would be the most hated player EVER because espn would show a highlight of him everynight. You think they show lebron and Kobe the stuff they are doing was MJ every game .
MJ didnt ruin the game the -players association ruined the game by not working with the league to put more developmental programs in place. They went for the cash and ignored the longterm effects that the income increase would have on future players entering the league. They ruined the game .
Whats crazy is that MJ was doing what Kobe and lebron are doing on a Fred Jones type salary

Got a Gold Name Plate that says "I wish you would"
