A bit late (internet issues over the last 2 1/2 days), but what a good win!
A pretty ideal and surprising 2nd half, I just loved it. And definitely did get a bit worried briefly there later in the 4th qtr... I was having thoughts of the G4 blown lead last year against Phoenix.
Tim played a solid overall game despite not having a large offensive game... he did enough, and still had a serious impact on the game.
Tony showed off his defense well last night, fun to watch. Like he did in the 2005 series against Phoenix, and in the Denver series in 06. Just destroyed the Suns.
Manu just kicked ass again
Michael Finley was so key in that third qtr, a blast to watch hit those jumpers
Barry looks like he's close to or back to normal, and played a good game, played more.
Very happy to see Horry played, I liked his defense in his stint, and got a good look at a three. Didn't miss badly. Definitely good to have him back playing, because he's another big man, and differs from the other support big men, specifically with his agility and length.
Also glad to see Udoka really get going, and had a nice game in his stints. Has to make a few of those three looks, though.
Kurt Thomas is the man, I love his toughness and approach
The defense in the 2nd half was just great, Amare being
stopped was so cool.
Diaw continues to be inconsistent, and can't guard Tony
Barbosa continues to be a non-factor against us. He's not a good finisher around the basket because of his lack of leaping ability and ability to change his body motion. Also think he may not have an ability to finish with his other hand. Haven't payed enough attention to that, but it seems like it. Aside from the Spurs interior defense, and did have a hurt hand last year against us, but still.
I don't know why people keep bringing up Shawn Marion's defense on Tony... yes he made him take (and make) more jumpshots, but he still got to the paint numerous times, had significant games, and collectively, Tony got the better of Marion. Marion having little success.
I didn't mind the hack-a-shaq strategy at all.. one thing nobody mentioned on TNT/ESPN - Shaq making FTs is better than possible dunks, lay-ups, and threes. Especially when you're good enough offensively, regardless of Shaq's success at the line.
I won't be surprised if somebody other than Nash/Shaq/Amare plays well in one or both of the next two games. I'm kind of expecting that.
Suns chances of winning this series definitely decreased quite a bit... I expect them to win a game, can see them getting two, and would be surprised by a sweep. The latter being incredibly ideal.
I've really come to enjoy how Kevin Harlan says
"Phoenix"
- with such emphasis and clarity, it's like the importance of what's being related to is only enhanced when he says it. If I was a fan of the Suns, that'd get me into things more, whether it's on a negative, questionable, or positive situation.
