Lakers #1 Offseason Target (One Love)
In the interest of sharing information, I have been told by a very reliable source (take it easy fella's) that the Lakers #1 offseason target is Beno Udrih... PJ believes he fills the role of backup two guard and is even contemplating starting him at PG next year... He is a 6'3" combo guard with a great stroke, decent passer and is a veteran player which could be picked up for approximately 3 million a year (bye bye Sasha)... Our lineup would for '09 would be as follows:
PG: Beno (6'3") & Farmar (6'2")
SG: KB24 (6'6") & D Fish (6'2")
SF: Ariza (6'8") & Radman (6'10")
PF: LO (6'10") & Turiaf (6'10")
C: Gasol (7'0") & Bynum (7'1")
Obviously, we have parts that are interchangeable and Bynum and Gasol may start up front together but our squad would be solid on all fronts... On another note, when Ariza was healthy, his team would win 80% of the scrimmages during practice regardless of who was on his squad... Shaw and PJ love his game... Enjoy the playoffs...

Vujacic would probably get the nod over Ariza and Radman, so I don't think that would be an issue.
But yeah, Sacramento essentially made Udrih their PG of the future when they traded away Bibby.
I'm sure the Lakers would like to get Udrih, but for practical concerns, a FA signing for some amount of the MLE would be highly unlikely. You're looking at a sign and trade with the Kings, which would probably cost us at least Jordan Farmar.
Whether we'd want to do that, or whether the kings would want to do that, is another issue.
After all, Farmar's made a huge jump in his game and has the attitude, fire, and work ethic that raises the ceiling on his potential by quite a lot.
And Sacramento has a nice thing going with Udrih, Martin, Garcia, and Salmons. It's the other players on that team that have fit or talent or health issues. Udrih proved he's a starting caliber point guard as well. Farmar's proven that he's a quality six man, he's shown nothing about his ability to run a team.
Just some considerations that came to mind.

First of all, his name should always be typed in pink. Like this:
Beno Udrih.
Secondly, I don't support it at all. We're better off keeping Sasha and giving Farmar bigger minutes.
Get me hard-nosed-defense-great-shot-selection-never-turns-it-over-super-high-ball-IQ-great-decision-maker-Steve-Blake over girly Beno, any day of the year.

I think it's a mistake to go out and look for a PG, particular one that is going to replace either Fisher or Farmar. That combination has worked well for us, so if anything, we might look for a 3rd stringer that can fill that spot in the event of injury. We were fortunate that both of our PG's played all 82 games, but we certainly can't count on that always being the case.
Our FO should be looking to find a back up center to Bynum before they go looking for a PG.

If we sign someone to replace Sasha, we'll need a 3pt shooting - triangle defense guard (something I've been lobbying for a while) w/ length to boot, UPGRADE.
That's kinda hard.
Give Sasha 2.5 milly and a low-carb animal style In&Out burger (or tacos if he's asking for it)
Give Kobe an extension and he'll keep his boys in line.
Oh, and give me half of Kupchak's salary to deliver much better results.
And free Hoes on the house for the avid fans.
