Dear Spurs Fans

Post#1 » by Adde91202 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 6:17 pm

I don't post much, but I'm a die hard Spur fan and I read every morning about what is going on and I obviously watch all the games. After watching the first two games I realized how much I love the Spurs simply by the way they play. The quickness of Tony, the clutch of Manu, and the great Timmy, it honestly is a spectacular game to watch. I know we're up 2-0, but game 3 is probably the biggest game until this point, IMO as a Spurs fan, it is a must win to show NO confidence for the Suns. Anyways those were my two cents, hopefully we will see the NOH in the next round.

I seriously don't know how people consider the Spurs boring to watch. They play the game in how it's supposed to be played. Beautiful to watch.

I think you have to understand the pro game to a degree to like us.

Timmy has no hops.
We have a bunch of old role players.
We play D, which is completely under appreciated today.

I don't agree but I understand how they could say it.

Small market stigma. If this team played in New York or LA, they would be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Since they're not, it's easy for people to shrug them off and ignore, call us boring, etc.

In my opinion, I think people classify the Spurs as boring basically because the Spurs don't dunk or have the 'power plays' that Lakers, Cavs, Suns, etc... have. Personally, I love the Spurs! I think Ginobili, Parker, and sometimes even Duncan bring plenty of excitement. Go Spurs!

I know why others think we're boring. I call it the 'tattoo theory'. The more tattoo's a player has, the more 'exciting' they are to watch. Outside of Damon Stoudamire, I think we have a grand total of 3 tat's on our team?

MUST GET MORE TATS!

Boring doesn't even cross my mind when watching these guys play. The confidence the players have in one another, the unity of the team, the great attitudes, and of course the great play. These guys are playing with heart and they are on a missions. What's not to like.

One thing I have noticed is that the Spurs seem to be getting more negative press from the media. Is it just me or does it seem like people don't like the Spurs as much this year. Not that they were very liked to begin with, but I'm seeing a bit more resentment towards the Spurs. OH well, sucks to be those guys.

I don't get it because it's not credible, in the way of what basketball is about. Especially when the Spurs have been in several big-time games in recent years.

About the media, ESPN was and still is all over the Suns and wanting them to win. Siding to them. Wilbon/Kornhesier on PTI as two serious examples. They both picked the Suns to win it all last season, and I think both did again this season. At least Wilbon did.

Most of the ATH guys have been pro-Spurs, though.

Charles is actually caught up in our age being a factor, and thus were not a top two team in the west.

Not sure if Kenny Smith still thinks the Suns are gojng to win it all this year, but he picked them to win at the beginning of the season. And, Magic Johnson I think did also. Charles has really gotten into Utah since later in the season, going away from the Spurs.

Because they have a limited perspective and don't look into the Spurs much. Having that extent of material on a team, or like, anything, isn't a legitimate opinion.

Now, if they've seen the Spurs significantly, and just don't like them, well, okay. Even though that's not their preference, that's still not enjoying, knowing, and appreciating what the game is all about.

Smith said on Larry Beil's Yahoo spot that Spurs will be too much for the Suns, but you're right he did support them more than others after the Shaq trade
