Interesting infromation from NBA.com...

Post#1 » by Bigmagicfan82 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 10:02 pm

Look what found in the playoff blog on NBA.com

You might not, but I find this interesting... Keyon Dooling was called for an offensive foul on an inbounds play with 9.3 seconds left to give the Magic the final possession down by one. Referee Bob Delaney, who made the call, was criticized for a similar decision in matchup between the Lakers and Warriors on March 24.

The refs did a pretty solid job all night not calling flops. I can remember 3 specifically in the first half that were pretty good acting jobs, but definitely acting jobs, and they were no calls. They really blew it with only 9 seconds left.

the only call I was impressed, and really blown away that the refs actually called it correctly, was when Bosh ran into Dwight and fell down after traveling. They called Bosh on his crap that time, and I applaud them for getting that right, cause it would be easy to give Bosh a call when he falls down the way he did.

There were a couple times were Jameer drove in hard on Calderon and he would just fall down when Jameer made some kind of contact. Both times Jameer just looked at him for a second...one of them he then hit a 10 footer.

i actually saw that game and it was a truly awful call.

on the inbounds, derek fisher appear to fall backwards and pull monta ellis down as he was making his move.

delaney, being the thickheaded wuckfit that he is, called ellis for the offensive foul believing that ellis had simply ran over fisher.

the call should've went against fisher for pulling ellis to the ground, but a non-call was really what was needed at that stage of the game.

really, i'm just glad we were able to pull the game out despite that call because the warriors weren't so fortunate.

It should have been a non call as neither player had position and was contact from both players. However, I did feel we did get away with one when Bosh went to the hole and Howard knocked him down, it was a pretty clear hip check. Other than that I had very few issues with the calls.
out of difficulty comes opportunity.

Should be Raptors.

Anyhow, I was pretty livid over that.

I mean, it was bad enough alone, but it was augmented by the crap that Calderon pulled (literally) on the other end of the floor right before that. Tight game, closing seconds, and I've got to watch this crap by Calderon?

Calderon defense for ya. Hell, thats Raptor defense. They know they can't defend anyone so they just try to get the call. But they aren't as bad as the Suns. The Suns games by far pissed me off the most.

Clearly the reason Magic fans hate floppers is because no one on this team does it. We might have the least amount of flops in the league. I swear Dwight has never flopped once in his career.

Carlos is the only flopper I can think of. Jameer seems to be the only other guy that takes charges but his are all legit. Grant Hill used to take a lot of charges but I don't think he was flopper either.
