miller as a #1 offensive option on any team is a big mistake and shows what the sixers need to improve. miller was good in this series against the pistons but nothing special. the guys that gave the sixers those 2 wins were evans, dalembert and iggy. miller played an important role too BUT without dalemberts 10.5ppg/11.3rpg/2.0bpg in the first 4 games (sixers won 2 of them) the sixers sucked big time. dalembert, iggy and evans were the reasons why the sixers controlled the pistons DEFENSIVELY in two of those 4 games.
the point you made Petbull was just millers offense (which wasn't that kind of a factor) as you see when you look at the two games the pistons won to send the sixers home (game 5 and 6). the pistons figured out that dalembert and the others i mentioned were big factors in those wins and decided to prevent them from doing anything on the court!
Key Players Game 5 and 6:
Dalembert -> 6ppg/6rpg/1bpg
Iggy -> 18.5ppg/4.5rpg/3.0apg (he shined offensively but did a bad job defensively this time... and he lost his all-around game to push his ppg. he flirted with a tripple double in the sixers game1 win and contributed 4 rebs 6 assists and 4 steals in game3 win)
Evans -> 3ppg/7rpg/1spg (was 8.8ppg/8.3rpg in first 4 games)
Now the A. Miller factor you mentioned:
Miller in first 4 games:
17ppg/3.7apg/ 3.3 TOpg
Miller in Game 5 and 6:
12ppg/2.5apg/0.5 TOpg
Miller was more productive hitting his floaters and jumpers in first 4 games but lost the ball extremely much for only dishing out 3.7 assist! the only thing miller shined were his 17ppg (which you don't expect from a "pass first PG" - miller isn't that type of a pg)
so the sixers point guard played the SG for most parts of the game. i still wanna ask you... do you really wanna trade for another shot-first player to be our directing point guard on the court?
really... miller is a bad defender and a shooting guard in the body of a pg (like iverson) with the little difference that iverson is way better than your hero miller.
trading iverson for miller = worst move ever!
the sixers lost this series because they couldn't stop the pistons in game 5 and 6 anymore. they struggled to rebound the ball and making shots hard for pistons. they didn't lost 100-77 because miller didn't made the missing 5 points from his average of first 4 games.
the sixers (very similar to our situation) lost because their defense was controlled by detroit. detroit took over and made everything look hard for sixers while the sixers only cared about offense in last 2 games. they thought they did a great job defensively on detroit and wanted to get even better making more points which translated in 2 big time losses.
everybody here knows we need a better defensive attitude and trading for miller is defenitely NOT the answer!
