Who's digging out of their 0-2 grave?

Post#1 » by Kid Vicious » Thu Apr 24, 2008 10:58 am

Man...so far, these playoffs have sucked big time. The favourites teams are 15-1!! (Yes, I consider the Jazz overwhelming favourites over the Rox) Weren't these playoffs supposed to be the most competitive ever?

I'm taking the Wizards, simply because they did the same thing 3 years ago against the Bulls.

Every other team doesn't have history on their side. Not to mention not many of the games have even been competitive.

Mavs were also 0-2 (at home) against Houston 3 years ago...

i really dont think any of these teams down 0-2 is going to come back to win the series. but if i had to lay money on any team it would be phoenix.

The least likely to come back are probably the Rockets. They're down 0-2 and they were the home team. At least all the other teams were on the road and have they have home games to look forward to.

And I agree this has been less than competitive so far.

I think we will have two teams come back from an 0-2 deficit this year. The Suns, Wizards, Mavericks and Raptors IMO all have a shot at doing it.

If I had to pick one team, I'd go with the Mavericks.

Oh, and I voted Suns. That series is very competitive, but the Spurs have had the better execution so far. I'm hoping the Suns win both of their home games and that this series goes on as long as possible.

Next, I'm hoping for the Raptors to come back. They lost both games mostly because of absolutely horrid 1st quarters.

Game 1: Down 20 after 1 quarter, cut it to 5 in the 4th at one point.

Game 2: Down 17 after 1 quarter and lost by 1. In that one, they had the ball at the end but Sam Mitchell, who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag, drew up the worst final out-out-timeout play in the History of Western Civilization.

The Raptors won 6 of the 8 quarters so far but are down 0-2. I've always said I expect Orlando to win this, but I'm still expecting Toronto to make this competitive.

After that I'd say Washington has the best chance to come back.

On the bright side, all the favorites winning early will make for very competitive round 2 basketball.

Oh, and I don't think any will come back. Suns and Raptors will at least extend the series to 6 games though.

I also see Houston, Hawks, and the Mavs getting swept.

I think the Wiz and the Suns will make the series close again, but still lose.

I don't think anyone is but if I had to pick, I'd say the Suns just because I want them to, not because I believe they can.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a list of the 13 nba series where a team came back from an 0-2 deficit? Here's the ones I can think of:

1976: Blazers over 76ers
1993: Bulls over Knicks
1994: Rockets over Suns
2004: Lakers over Spurs
2005: Wizards over Bulls
2005: Mavericks over Rockets
2006: Heat over Mavericks
2007: Jazz over Rockets
2007: Cavs over Pistons

Thats 9. Does anyone know the 4 others?

Well things might get interesting games 3 and 4.

For one, Phoenix has done fairly well on the road and they will be much better at home. I wouldn't be surprised if they win their two at home.

As far as the favorites, only Detroit has upset so far, by losing at home. I really don't think Philly is a beast at home, but if they can win at home atleast 2 games, then they have a decent chance. If they win all home games, then the Pistons will be done by game 6.

I think while the Mavs have been TERRIBLE on the road, that they might pull one out with their backs on the wall.

His lack of respect in this thread isn't about his reputation, it's that his team is down 0-2 and have the next 2 in salt lake. If Kobe was in this situation not many people would give them a chance.

Most of the teams down by 2 have been on the road & many will love a little home cookin'. I expect the rockets to disappear in Salt Lake though.

Lies. Raptors did not win 6/8 quarters.

Seems to me like this feat has become more and more common in the NBA, teams just aren't as dominant as they once were in the playoffs. We've had at least one team come back from an 0-2 hole for 4 straight years now. I see this trend continuing.
