Read the OP. Nobody is talking about this season.

Didn't have the consecutive 50 wins seasons, but Kareem averaged 56 wins/season over 20 years and thats taking a 27 win Bucks team to 56 wins and a 30 win Lakers team to 40 wins. And did manage steaks of 10 and 5. And steaks of 3 and 4 for 60 win seasons.

Puertorique wrote:Not to bash on TD because he does deserve the acolade. However he came into his career differently then Shaq did. For instance he already had David Robinson. Shaq was drafted to Orlando who had Nick Anderson. Shaq went to the Lakers who werent the same team as they were when he got there. TD still had Robinson and a great GM staff that built a team around him, Shaq had a team that was being built around Kobe later on. Shaq went to Miami who also was barely over a 40 win team.

Once again not taking anything away from TD because he is a great player and when this generations greats are listed he is the PF standing next to Shaq in the starting line up. Just pointing out the differences in their careers and how they both met these great feats in different ways. Still does not diminish what TD or Shaq has done.

You act like D Rob was still all star calibre. D Rob was riddled with injuries by that stage, Duncan came onto the team as the no.1 option right away. As did Shaq, plus Shaq had Penny Hardaway who was freaking amazing back then.

Nice job on the research, 13 straight 50 wins seasons is an amazing feat - it really shows how big of difference having a big guy of Shaq's calibre makes.

I did some research of my own, just digging through the history books. I found something that makes Shaq's feat even more impressive. Get this...

Shaq has strung together more 50 win seasons than any team in NBA history.

Yes you read that right. Shaq's 13 straight 50 win seasons is one more than the NBA record for 50 wins seasons by a team, held by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Here's the breakdown, consecutive 50 win seasons (lockout counts if team has a regular 50 win winning percentage) from all NBA franchises, even dating back to the ABA days.

Shaquille O'Neal - 13

Atlanta Hawks - 4
Boston Celtics - 10
Charlotte Bobcats - 0
Chicago Bulls - 5
Cleveland Cavaliers - 2
Dallas Mavericks - 8
Denver Nuggets - 3
Detroit Pistons - 7
Golden State Warriors - 1
Houston Rockets - 2
Indiana Pacers - 2
Los Angeles Clippers - 0
Los Angeles Lakers - 12
Memphis Grizzlies - 1
Miami Heat - 7
Minnesota Timberwolves - 3
New Jersey Nets - 3
New Orleans Hornets - 2
New York Knicks - 4
Orlando Magic - 3
Philadelphia 76ers - 7
Phoenix Suns - 7
Portland Trailblazers - 4
Sacramento Kings - 5
San Antonio Spurs - 11
Seattle Supersonics - 6
Toronto Raptors - 0
Utah Jazz - 5
Washington Wizards - 2

Now that is impressive. Sucks to be a Clipper fan.
