You guys could use JVG. The only teams he'd consider coaching next year are Dallas and Phoenix. Neither Kerr nor Cuban like him as an individual though.

There are a bunch of teams that could do well to hire Avery if Dallas overreacts and fires him.

Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Detroit and Washington

Mavs fans becareful what you wish for the grass ain't always greener.

You probably could add Golden state to that list, Nellie is old and tired.

Ha, that's funny. Who is going to do his ISO's? Harrington? You thing Baron Davis will get along with Avery? Jackson?

If Avery gets fired, he will be Pap's new assistant.

I'd seriously revamp the entire front office. Avery and Donnie out the door.

LArry Brown would be the perfect vet coach for you guys before he self destructed in New York. But than again he was working with Isiah and the incompetant Knicks players.

LArry a MAV ???

Well, he's now available. He's a sly fox...if he quit that gig it was for a reason.

Though, couldn't he have waited for his team to get knocked out of the playoffs first?

I've said this on another forum, but I don't think Brown would be the right fit to replace Avery. Avery and Brown seem to me to be very similar coaches and the team has tuned Avery out at this point for the most part. Avery micromanages every aspect of the Mavs play.

My thought is a coach in the Jackson/Riley mold. Riley might be available in the offseason, but my thought is a coach who allows the team a bit of slack, yet knows how to push buttons at teh right time. Oh ya, and a coach that can make good mid game changes (and game to game changes in the playoffs).

It's still early to call for firing Avery as the Mavs haven't been knocked out of the playoffs yet. However, my bar was set at the beginning of the year in that if Avery didn't coach us to a championship this year then I would definately support a change in coaches.
