So I guess House and Tony are out of the rotation?
Last night was a blowout victory and these guys barely got any run at all. In the first game Tony only played 9 minutes after averaging 19 on the season. House only has 8 total minutes, after averaging 19 as well. So these guys aren't just taking a little hit as a result of Sam and the playoffs, they are practically gone.
I like the aggressive scoring Sam brings to the team, although I was wondering if he was ever going to pass the ball yesterday, but I can't understand why House and Tony aren't getting any playing time in BLOWOUTS after doing so well in the regular season.
I also really think we're going to need Tony's defense when we get deeper into the playoffs, especially if we see Detroit, and decent playing time seems to be the best way for him to tune up his game.
We're winning now, so I'm not going to get all up in arms about it....I'm just wondering if Doc knows what he's doing. It seems like he has shortened the rotation just for the hell of it and because he's been told that's what happens in the playoffs.

We'll I see where Doc is going, but I think he should work them in more, cause we need Tony to be aggressive and Eddie to hit his shots when we do need these weapons, and they need confidence for that. I don't want to hurt Sam's minutes because he is bringing aggressive scoring to the table, which we'll need later on, but I hope Doc works Eddie and Tony in more.

WTF?
Use bench more in blowouts? This is the playoffs, it is more important t keep intensity up than rest up and play others.
House isn't a good matchup in this series. Tony Allen also isn't needed. Maybe they will in the second round, but Cassell is playing well as the backup and there isn't a supreme need for a spot up shooter this round.
Tony will be used as a defensive player as needed.
Eddie? when KG starts getting doubled he will be an automatic threat. He will be called on to hit open shots at some point during the playoffs. This isn't a good series for him. With Bibby, Childress and Joe Johnson, all of them are bigger and more powerful than House.

They don't have much of a role in a series like this. Wait until the Celtics play some team with a tough perimeter player or need a shooter on the floor. Neither is necessary when you can sleepwalk through the game and play PJ Brown and still win by 20. If they play the Cavs, Tony should get a few more minutes guarding LeBron. House, I don't know.

when we signed cassell, that meant house and allen were out........what do you want
TA will be used for defense
cassell will take up almost all the other minutes and should with his savy
any time house plays, i want him shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting
sam can control the tempo, house has the green light @ all times........both are excellent weapons off the bench
cassell can dominate, house is a great benefactor

Thank God Doc is playing Cassell over House, Ive been less and less of a fan of House as the season went on. Im a little suprised TOny just fell out of the lineup but his driving to the basket with circus shots scares me a little. Still I think he should be used for defense against tougher teams.

am I the only one that thinks Tony is way overvalued on this team. I hope Danny doesnt blow any type of $$$ to resign this kid this summer. He has been a mess offensively all year often forcing things and causing turnovers. this series if probably the only series where he could be of any use because we are playing a bunch of kids. but any further in the playoffs he only matches up decent with one player, that'd be rip hamilton, and he'd be to much of a liability on offense ag'st the pistons.
House is going to have his time somewhere in the playoffs, at some point he's going to hit a couple big shots when we need him to.
Tony is an undersized shooting guard with no range and no handle. guys like billups, lebron, arenas, butler can easily overpower him. i hope danny lets him walk this summer and he'll prolly get a marcus banks contract from someone and either be insignificant on a decent team, or be a 20th round fantasy pick because he's the 6th man on a non playoff team.
this teams only "defensive stopper" is Kevin Garnett, everyone else looks better because they've bought into the system. and danny can replace tony with several guys even with the 30th pick.

I agree, I've been saying the same thing. Tony is great defensively, but his offense is horrible even on easy shots like layups. House isn't bad though as a deep bench sg/pg. Hopefully we can sign a veteran this summer that can do what Tony and House do together.

You made most of this stuff up. Tony has always been a defensive stopper, way before KG came to town. He's not undersized for Shooting guard, he's 6'4", which is around the average height at the position, and weighs 215. Billups is 6'3" and 205, butler is 6'7", a SF, and weighs 228. As for Lebron, what player in the NBA, can lock him up? Tony isn't overpowered easily and has incredible upper body strength.
How many times this year has he met guys going up for strong dunks at the basket with clean blocks?

Just a couple games ago he ripped the ball away from Ager on a dunk attempt one handed. You can't do that and be "easily overpowered." Offensively anything Tony gives us is a bonus, he only seems to have the problems with TOs when he was being used to run the offense. He had a bad March offensively, which is when I think he lost confidence, but before that he was improving each month.

There's an article in today's Herald about Tony Allen and Eddie House not being happy with their reduced minutes. They seem to not know the reasons for the change. Let me throw in a couple hypotheses:
1. Rotations tend to get shorter during the playoffs, and coaches go with their most consistent bench players. In the case of the Celtics, that means the Poseys and the Powes (guys who, as an added bonus, can play multiple positions well).
2. Tony Allen has shown improvement since the start of the season, but even during his best moments he has not been reliable or consistent. That's too much of an advantage to give during the playoffs.
3. Eddie House hasn't been able to find the hoop for a few weeks now. The timing couldn't have been any worse. Until he remembers where the hoop is, he'll be relegated to trying to find it during practice.
