Carl Landry, the heart and soul of our team

Post#1 » by jzmagik » Fri Apr 25, 2008 5:37 am

This guy's heart is unbelievable. He had his teeth knocked out and came back to continue playing, becoming such a huge force for us. He had so much clutch plays for us down the stretch, numerous offensive boards including one where he flew out of bounds to keep a missed shot in play, and then the block on Deron Williams to clinch the game.

Lets not get carried away here now. I give Rafer a lot of hate on these boards. But if nothing else. Alston is the definite heart and soul of this team. Bad shots, untimely turnovers and all.

Rafer definately deserves credit, he's unquestionably the leader of our team, he played amzing out there, but when we needed clutch plays, Landry was there in flying colors.

The most encouraging thing about this game was that he finally looked like the Landry from earlier this year for the first time since the knee injury.

The Alston praise will change when he goes 3-22 next game, but he still did a fantastic job, tonight.

LOL you just know that 3-22 performance is coming. I mean after he lit up the Lakers in that game last month...I don't think he scored more than 10 points in any game over those next few weeks.

^ I am more nervous about that then you can imagine...

Rafer's head tends to get huge, and his shooting percentage tends to deflate as a consequence.

Oh no man I am not joking either. I'll even take it a step further. Every time we praise Rafer on these boards the very next game he returns to the Rafer we all hate. The chucker...the guy that can't finish..the guy that makes untimely TOs.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Landy was huge tonight just like he was during the 22 game win streak. This should be nothing new to us or the coaching staff. If you give him quality minutes he will produce. He got the minutes he was lacking in the first two games and got it done!!! His prescence is a difference maker and needs to be out there half the game.

Id have to disagree with everybody on this one. We have a bunch of guys with HEART on this team. I see it all the time in Scola, Hayes and Landry when they are battling for boards, providing and making plays for 2nd chance oppurtunities.

I see the heart when Battier plays tenacious defense every game and all game long. Or when Mutombo is constantly altering and blocking tough shots in the paint. I see it when he takes pride and waives his finger, saying "Get dat sh*t out of here!"

Rafer keeps it all together and plays hard every night and is truly a leader on the court. Its great to see a PG playing with heart and passion. We definatley missed that once he lost Francis then Sura.

Last but not least, I can see the Heart in TRACY MCGRADY !!! The guy is averaging damn near a triple double this series. He's attacking early and still looking for his teammates through out the game. I saw heart in Him when he took his game to that Superstar level down the stretch scroring 7 out of 10 during that run in the last couple of minutes. He got it done! Wish I could have heard Charles and Kenny find a way to criticize him tonight. I was chillin with my grandpa and we watched it on UPN.

Always nice to see rookies perform in big games (gotta give some love to Brooks here as well). Landry is a keeper (as if we didn't know that already).

Landry is the only Rocket "Big" w/any hops to his game. He provides some much needed athleticism and really seems to inspire the teram w/his play. But he's still not all the way back. When he starts dunking again in traffic, that's when he's all the way back.
