Jose Calderon
I must say this guy is killing us. He plays very hard and is a very good passer and shooter.
Now whats the chance of the magic getting him you think? and if we did.. How much better can we be?
I think we can honestly be number 1 or 2..
First dwight is only getting better. And with him we would have a pass first point guard that has size to play great defense against opposing pg's. and then with nelson coming off the bench would make us even more potent.
So next season with a line up looking like
calderon-nelson
lewis
turk-
battie-
Howard-
That looks like one of the best in the league.. And thats not even me just being a magic fan.. Thats a good looking team.

Personally, the only way I could see Orlando getting Calderon is via a sign and trade involving Hedo. And the odds of that happening are next to zero.
@ Komodo - what are you planning to do with TJ Ford, then? Because, as I am sure 'Brian and Co' know, paying two 'starting' point guards bigtime, starting point guard money, and then asking them to play 24mpg each, is not that clever. Ford's already locked in for several years - if they plan to do the same with Calderon, where does TJ go?

TJ will be gone this off season. He was BYC due to his new contract. From what im hearing around TJ will be shopped in the off season, most likely for a Slasher or a Banger

What do you guys see as your main requirement? Having watched a few Raps games this season, I'd have to say banger. Your most agressive player in the paint is Moon, and a 6'8 SF isn't going to be able to get it done for you every night, despite his admirable work ethic.
Every single one of your bigs seems to want to stay out of the paint to one extent or another, and Bargnani looks almost afraid every time he gets close to the basket - honest question, what do you guys think of him? Because at the moment, in all honesty (although as I said, I've only seen a few Raps games this season) I would say he is a 7ft waste of space. Really looks infuriating at times.

Main requirement is probably a slashing SF. Moon shows flashes of his ability to slash, but he has very poor ball handling skills to make him an effective threat. That coupled with his poor shooting leaves him as a liability on the offensive end. We definately want a banger, but I don't think we need one more than a slashing small forward. Keep in mind that we do have Humphries who is a very good banger, but thinks he is MJ and takes fade aways for some odd reason.
Bargnani is... well, he sucked this year. All the Raptor fans know it, and while many of them have given up hope for him, he still has time to prove himself. We've all seen flashes of his offensive potential -- shooting the 3 ball, pump fake one dribble pull up, the occasional dunk, driving to the basket (even though it looks very awkward). On the defensive end, he isn't as bad as people make him out to be. He is a bit slower, so putting him at SF is dumb, but I thought he did a great job against Dwight in Game 3.
He has a lot scheduled for him this summer in terms of big man camps and whanot, so next year will be a good time to judge his true value. Obviously we'd rather have a player like Howard, but many of us think Bargs will develop into a very capable scorer in this league and a half decent defender -- even if he can't rebound to save his life.

Banger is indeed something we need. We also need a sf slasher, Moon just can't penetrate that well. He moves well without the ball and is very effective cutting to the hoop but if he gets the ball on the wing he can't seem to get by his man so he settles for jumpers or passes it off. He often makes up for this on defence though. We could really use an SF who can drive past people... like Turk for instance.
Regarding Bargs, "infuriating" is the word. We see so much ability in him that goes unused. He shows some stuff sometimes that just blows your mind but then he becomes a blackhole for extended periods. He has shown some decent man to man defensive ability too(albeit inconsistently). He was pretty good against Howard in G3 I thought. But yeah, we're just praying he can put it all together eventually. Many have given up on him though.... I'll wait a bit.
EDIT: I see Darthbane beat me to it.

There is no way the Magic get Jose this offseason. Furthermore, I don't want to jump to conclusions because teams are allowed to have an off day every once in awhile....but this game really showed how flawed this team is in the backcourt. People have really been on the MO Evans bandwagon, and nothing against him, but a starting 2 Guard in the NBA doesn't go scoreless in a playoff game. Also, TJ and Jose picke Jameer apart all game. Back spasms or not, we definitely need to improve this problem for next season.
With that being said...Sunday is a huge game for this team for sure. Go Magic!

Calderon is an upgrade over Nelson for sure, but Nelson is no scrub and we have bigger needs anyway, like at the 2.
About Bargs, he really seems like a good player to me. I just think he'd be better served as a four playing alongside a dominate force in the paint, like Howard. Maybe you ship us Moon and Bargs + a 1st rounder and we'll give ya Hedo?
