I think Rondo is a bit overrated because he plays in the best defensive team. I remember Raptors win at Boston and they basically won that game with one play: pick and roll. Rondo could never stay in front of Calderon, who played probably his best game of the season.

On the other hand, Baron Davis is underrated for playing in the worst defensive team.

Rondo has always been marked as a premiere defender since his college days. This is the first year he started fully so I think the team being good defensively speaks volumes about him.

People automatically assuming that since Paul gets a lot of steals that means he gambles a lot = :-?

It's Billups. He keeps the other PG controlled every game. He's just a very smart basketball player.

Rondo gets special mention too. I think he's good, but he's definitely not the best. You're really kidding yourself if you think he's the best on D already. Give him several more years and when older PGs retire.

Proof that they don't watch games. Chris rips his man straight up, he's not running around in circles looking for steals......

He's a big part of why we have a top 5 defense.

Paul leads league with personal fouls with 125

How great defensively. And also, I didn't say Devin Harris is the shizzle on offense. Lolz, even Dooling isn't the shizzle on offense. We are taking about defense. On offense, Paul owns everyone, IN THE LEAGUE.

I think its Rondo. I agree he can be a llittle soft on the defensive Pick and roll, but his defensive bball IQ is genius level, reminds me of guys like Stockton and Ginobili who are really good at baiting guys to go certain spots on the floor. Superficially it will look like they got beat but oftentimes its intentional. It should be noted that by John Hollingers metric Rondo rated as the best defender at his position last year when he was on the 2nd worst record in the league and this year when he was on the best record.

I don't know what Chris Paul's personal fouls have to do with anything. By that logic, the Jazz are the worst defensive team in the league since they foul the most.

Paul rarely (if ever) gambles to get steals. He stays in front of his man and does a hell of a job anticipating post-entry passes. Once he gets a fingertip on the pass, the ball is as good as stolen.

People have Iverson stuck in their mind when they see steals per game stats. You don't have to gamble to get steals.

It makes sense actually, if he were playing the passing lanes, he would get 0 fouls. You only rack up fouls like that playing tight D.

He was actually ranked 92nd anyway......
