Detroits arrogance: What drives them and...

Post#1 » by MagicFan32 » Sat Apr 26, 2008 1:34 am

Yet seems to be there downfall.

The media acted like the sixers would roll over to the superior Pistons and I think the Pistons in a way expected it as well. The sixers have proven they are not intimidated(and yet listening to some of the talking heads they act like Detroit will just turn it on)

the teams are too good to not take seriously, in a way an arrogance and swagger are good but when it turns into not respecting your opponent it's a total downfall.

What befuddles me, is after last year how can the Pistons pull this again? It's to the point where even if they do bring their effort every game they may still lose because they've let this team gain a ton of confidence.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

How are they being arrogant?

Billups said before the series started that Philly is a good team and could beat them.

They were not looking at them as a 40-42 team, but rather as the team that went 30-12 in their last 42 games.

I haven't seen any Pistons players saying anything but high praise about this Sixers team.

Sheed talking about what a great coach Mo Cheeks is.

Even if they can pull off a comeback and beat the Sixers. They will definitely lose in the 2nd round. They've completely lost focus on their goal/trust in one another and themselves.
My Starting 5:

PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing

People need to realize that Philly is a talented young team, that played it's heart out.

And Reggie Evans has been huge in these games.

They think that they can coast and still win... common not even the Lakers of this era coasted this much. I think they( Detroit) are much better than what they have shown us this playoffs. It seems like they don't respect their opponents. You can't point this out on the coach... they did this with Larry Brown vs a crapful Magic team with T-Mac. It is all on the players...

I think either Philly or Detroit beats Orlando/Toronto.

It isn't to take anything away from the 76'ers... They are a damn good upcoming team. They beat alot of good teams to get into the playoffs like the Pistons and Spurs on a back to back I believe, but I don't think 76'er fans thought that they would really impose their will on the Pistons and look like the significantly better team after game three

The Pistons are not underachievers, they're just mentally weak. They've been punked by Wade, LeBron, and now the 6ers in consecutive years.

Their offense is stagnant and not good enough to win a championship anymore. They don't have anyone who can get in the lane or draw double teams so they just take jumpshots. Billups disappears when you put a big guard on him and no one else is stepping up.

Get through the sixers first. Although I would love to see Rondo add Chauncey Billups to his hitlist.

I expect Detroit will be ready for Sunday's game, but I have to respect the way Philly is playing. The hunger factor definitely weighs heavy in Philly's favor right now. That was a great effort by the 76ers tonight, I can't see them being any less pumped for game 4. I think Detroit has its hands full in this series, if they go down 3-1 I don't think they can come back.

When I viewed this thread there is a banner to the right that says "Detroit Pistons Playoff Tickets For Sale" and it has a picture of Ben Wallace dunking. Is that symbolic or what? :noway:

Hope this is sarcasm but if it's not, I would be very worried right now. Philly came back and stole game one and yeah they got beat in game two, but damn, tonight they b*tch slapped your Pistons.

Keep that arrogance up by all means though, just might find your team ousted in two games. Which would be hilarious honestly.

Not quite as hilarious as the Bucks last 2 regular seasons though.

This was pretty hilarious.

BTW - The Pissed-on's are pretty annoying. I still feel like they'll win the series, but what a bunch of jackasses. If they lose in the first round, I wonder what the implications will be?

Hopefully they do lose, Magic vs Philly in the second round = ECF birth for the Magic.
