 @ the thought that Monta forgot how to play man to man D...

The defense Nellie "runs" is one designed to hide the physical weaknesses he creates with his crazy lineups... it benefits smarter, more experienced players more than naturally talented ones...

If it drives down Monta's value, that's a bonus... but anyone with basketball eyes saw that Monta can play man D... people will be shocked when Tay's more productive in a halfcourt (both ends of the court) set than in this gimmicky crap.

You put Al Harrington at center and Azubuike at PF, any gaurd in the league will look like a horrible defender..

This is  talk..All year long...How can you not even understand what happens when you play without a legit frontline? Is this rocket science?

Yeah, Harrington is the reason we had the worst defense in the league. It's all his fault. That's exactly why Monta couldn't keep up with his man in one on one situations. Oh, and don't forget Biedrins. It's his fault too that Ellis would get his ankles broken, because Andris is such a horrible defender, not poor Monta.

You people are nuts.

People forget that the reason we play a fugged up zone defense 90% of the time is because of Monta Ellis. Otherwise, if I'm an opposing coach I just run every play at him and win the game with ease.

hard to put any defensive blame on any of our players when Nellie is the guy telling them what to do.

and we didn't play a zone because of M8E's lack of man to man defense. We played a zone to try to get teams to take outside shots rather than exposing our height deficiencies down low, to allow our guards more freedom to get in passing lanes to create fast breaks, and to allow baron to exert less energy on defense by being able to chill in one spot (and if you think nelly never told baron to rest on D your crazy).

That's too complex TB... basketball's a very simple game... the only things that matter are wins and what stats appear when you click on the players' name on Yahoo... anything beyond that and you are overthinking it.

The reason we went to a zone is Tay... we were perfectly fine having Buke and Pietrus go man to man with all the 4s in the West... Harrington usually has his way with the 5's in the West too... the only way Tay could be less effective is if you subtracted 1 from his jersey.
