Josh Howard: a true patriot.

He's just a pot smoker who's probably too dumb to realize that there might be a problem with publicly admitting to illegal activities.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small fine from the NBA.

He's making comments that are detrimental to the League.

ahhh gotta love labels and stereotyping. You'd probably be surprised by the amound of people who do it, what profession they are in and how respected thoes people are. Sure it's not for everyone, it's not for you. But don't label people because of it. And really, who cares! It's the best most harmless drug out there. Live a little man, quit living life scared

I just had some more pot delivered to the Mav's locker-room so that Howard don't stink it up in the 2nd half.

He told me he was always to afraid to sneak it in and it wore off by halftime.

I find it funny that people think it's OK for a prominent basketball player in the NBA admitting to not only doing illegal drugs but that most of the league is doing it. Talk about stupidity self-indulgence lack of morals and disregard for the law--not to mention the possible effect on youth listening to him. If this is what he wants to do--keep it to yourself Howard. People don't care what you do but don't have the audacity to come on public radio and admit it like it was the same act as brushing your teeth.

You think members of Congress who sniff this won't demand a serious league-wide investigation after what happened with baseball? Every basketball player will be taking monthly urine samples by the time this is done.

You two are idiots.

(1) Josh Howard admitted smoking pot, so calling him a "pot smoker" isn't exactly putting a label on his, is it? You two were the ones assuming that I gave him that "label" with negative intentions. I didn't. Shame on you.
(2) NOWHERE did I say or imply that he's dumb because he smokes pot. What I said was that he's a pot smoker and he's dumb. Again, I didn't imply any negative connotation. Shame on you again.

(3) If you want to know the truth, pot should be legalized...and that has NOTHING AT ALL to do with Josh's comments.

(4) What I said was that Josh is dumb...and if he makes these comments publicly, that's exactly what he is. There are a lot of "smart" pot smokers...but Josh apparently ain't one of them.

(5) You two get off your high horses and read a little more thoroughly, or get the hell off of our board.

He now joins my list of least favorite NBA players. Which includes Chris Anderson. Now I'm glad the Wolves didn't draft him.

this is ridiculous. How can so many people hate him just cuz he smokes weed. How is AI not one of your least favorite players when he chased his wife around with a knife? or kobe cuz he raped someone?

like foreal son, bad reason to hate someone

It's not the actual pot smoking that concerns me when it comes to Josh Howard. From a fans perspective, as long as your contributing to your community, which Josh does frequently, I couldn't care less what your off court issues are.

What concerns me is that he has to bring this up a few hours before the biggest game of your season and have a chance at ruining team chemistry. Why make a nonstory into national headlines when it doesn't have to be a big deal like that at all?

This is stupid.
I highly doubt it "ruined team chemistry".

And maybe helped by keeping the media distracted from their play, considering they are probrably tied for the worst 50 win team in the league with Detroit and Denver.

Thanks. That helps your argument a ton.

You two get off your high horses and read a little more thoroughly, or get the hell off of our board.

Whose board? Sorry, am I trespassing? I believe you are the one who needs to read more thoroughly because I am quite certain that I said I understand why Mavs fans are upset, and that volunteering information about your illegal activities is NOT SMART, especially for a pro athlete.

That being said, I am also glad that Josh Howard has the balls to be honest about a subject that could be potentially detrimental to his career. I admire him for not lying about it. His honesty, imo, is the sign of good character, not a bad teammate who is risking team chemistry.

If I misread your comments as stereotyping "pot smokers" as dumb, than I apologize, but they sure came across that way.

Seriously? Smoking weed = lack of morals? Wow. And disregard for the law? How many players in league are under 21? And how many do you think drink alcohol on a regular basis? What a bunch of criminals. Gimme a break.

Lets see if we can get a team to trade their entire draft to get Ricky Williams...
err Josh Howard.

Ricky was the last person I could think of who was so open about their usage. I also wonder if the perception will change IF this is coming out because some media outlet/Josh got wind of a positive hit on a test.
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.
