All Rod needs to make Nets a contender in the east and championship club is
1) Add young strong veteran PF
2) Find another knock down 3pt shooter
This will get you to the Eastern Confrence Finals and possible NBA Championship; thats it; no blow it up no rebuild just a little retooling

Like a younger version of Rasheed Wallace.
But that player isn't available if there is one. Maybe Lamarcus Aldrigde, and he isn't going anywhere.
If the Nets made bigger moves elsewhere and needed to address this need cheaply, have you considered Craig Smith? Smith was a Top Ten rookie last year who has uncanny quickness and the ability to get his shot off past anyone. He uses his speed and muscle to rebound as well, but his offensive game seems to match your description for a post scorer, back-to-the-basket, assorted moves, and can shoot. His height though means he needs help defensively against taller PF's. He's beloved by fans, but with Al Jefferson here now, Smith's opportunities are limited.
Smith is a RFA for the Timberwolves this summer, and my guess would be that they'd be reluctant to match an offer over $3 mil. If the Nets are concerned about salary and would prefer a sign-and-trade, the Wolves could use a young big man that can defend .. scoring is not a necessity.

Did anyone mention James Jones?
Just read an article that "Thorn is likely to target a number of cost-effective free agents this summer, including unrestricteds such as Keyon Dooling, Matt Barnes, Mickael Pietrus, Trevor Ariza, Kelenna Azubuike and Eduardo Najera, and a possible opt-out such as James Jones. "

Smart thinking JJ's one of those players people don't notice he could be a steal. BTW who does he play for now? it was Indiana then PHX.
Everyone on that list sounds good.
Keyon Dooling would be a great backup if we can get him.
