Question from a spurs fan (about dirk)

Post#1 » by lukeridenour » Sun Apr 27, 2008 2:08 am

before i start, i felt the need to make my loyalties clear because of our rivalry.

first off, i aboslutely love dirks game and i have been a big fan since he came into the league. my question is, when he first suffered the highankle sprain and knee sprain against the spurs, what did he do to recover? he came back so fast and so effective that my admiration increased for dirk.

ot-pipedream, dirk comes to SA!

IIRC he put up new ice on the ankle and knee every two hours, day and night, thats what he told the press. Idk what the trainers did with him though, probably a lot of little practices. He said the knee injury was the bigger issue as he was used to ankle sprains thoughout his career, he never had a knee injury before.

i think he used a hyperbearic chamber too, TO used the same thing to recover from a broken leg to get healthy for the superbowl

He's a naturally fast healer.

1) he's a naturally fast healer as Jasen mentioned
2) he goes on a treatment schedule where he is treated every two hours 24/7. Even in the night he sleeps for 2 hours, then is woken up and treated, then back to sleep.
3) he plays with significant amounts of pain

I think a lot has to do with his determination and drive to be back on the court.

He's still significantly hurt, but he plays anyhow. He has a HUGE discolored knot on his upper ankle that still hasn't healed and he doesn't have the time to rest it and let it recover, so he just keeps playing.
