They showed Melo's interview in full last night. He straight up said "I quit, ya I said it. We all quit" He elaborated on that too. Then I'm sure he realized how horrible he looked so he came out today to try and fix it, but it's too late.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with what I said about his second comment, but thanks for the keen insight.

And btw, why does he look horrible for being honest about what happened?

Two MVP caliber players that would lead their team to a ring. Carmelo is just a no defense, no passing chucker who doesn't step up when his team needs him to. He's Zach Randolph without the rebounding but even more chucking.

Have you actually watched Iverson in any of Denver's playoff games? How much better than Melo was he yesterday? Melo sucked donkey-balls and AI only sucked human-balls, so that makes AI "the man."

Over the past two years, Anthony has consistently performed better than AI has in the playoffs. I'd have to say AI has been far more disappointing for Denver in the playoffs over the long haul.

First, he said he played like crap, and that he and the team quit. (and how can anyone question the accuracy of that statement?)

Then he said his shot's not falling, and to say it slightly better than he does, it's not a question of effort. Doesn't make much sense unless you consider what the question might have been. But if the question was something like: "Carmelo, how do you explan your offensive performance today, is it a lack of effort?" and his answer is "my shot's not falling, it's not effort," that actually makes some sense. In fact, I sort of agree with it. He was trying on offense. In fact he tried harder to get to the rim rather than settling for jumpers than he does a lot of the time. For whatever totally mystifiying reason, he couldn't hit anything.

So I don't know that they are necessarily totally consistent, but they may not be as inconsistent as they seem.

Reporters do this all the time. They use the quotes they get to fit the theme of the story they decide to write without providing the context of what question the players were answering.

First, he said that he, his team, and the coaching staff, all quit. Then, he said no one can ever question his effort. If you can't see the discrepancy between his two statements, there's not much more to be said.

Why would you even bother responding to my post if you weren't going to either read or try to understand it?

If you asked me the following questions, would I be crazy to give the following answers?

Q. How were Melo's and the team's overall efforts yesterday?

A. Absolute dog-crap.

Q. Why couldn't Melo hit any shots, was it a lack of effort?

A. I don't think so. He actually tried pretty hard to get to the basket, etc., but his shot was just dreadful.

Granted he's not as articulate as me, but both of responses things are absolutely true of yesterday's game.

Yes, I did read and understand your post. You're pretty much saying that we're taking his comments out of context, as they were probably answers to two separate sets of questions. But logically, it makes no sense that he would say that he gave up and then say turn around and say it wasn't because of a lack of effort. How does someone give up, but put in effort? Or does he mean that he put a lot of effort into giving up. That would be the only logical explanation. Saying that it was because his shot wasn't falling is just making excuses, I hope you can see that.
