Who's First Team All-NBA?

Post#1 » by Old School » Sun Apr 27, 2008 8:20 pm

I think most reasonable fans would agree:

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Kobe
SF: LeBron
PF:
C: Dwight Howard

But who's the PF Duncan (the proven better player) or KG (the biggest difference maker)

Looks like I smoked out the first unreasonable fan. Butler and Jamison's mother wouldn't pick them over LeBron or Duncan/KG.

I might pick Stevenson over Kobe, but the rest looks fine.

Paul
Kobe
LeBron
Garnett
Howard

It has as more to do with the Celtics record then it does with it being Garnett.

I doubt it will be close for the first team. It shouldn't, based on their play this year: Paul, Bryant, Lebron, Garnett, and Howard are the clear first team.

It is clearly:

KG (first off the NBA does not differentiate betwixt the PF and SF on the ward teams)
Howard
Lebron
Paul
Kobe

The second is where the debate should be.

Well Duncan vs KG

PPG

Duncan 19.3
KG 18.8

Rebounds

Duncan 11.3
KG 9.2

Blocks

Duncan 2.0
KG 1.3

Assists

Duncan 2.8
KG 3.4

Steals

Duncan .7
KG 1.4

FG%

Duncan 49.7
KG 53.9

These two are fairly even. I'm thinking Amare should get it based on statistical performance......

I think KG will have to make the 1st team, like mentioned earlier moreso with the Celtics rather than himself.

i wouldn't put amare in the league of duncan and kg. Amare's atrocious defense is enough reason to leave him out no matter how much he scores.

You're right Amare's performance is why the Suns are up 3-0 over Timmy's team ... oops.

Stats are only an indicator of performance, not performance itself.

If the first team isn't

Paul
Bryant
LeBron
KG
Dwight

Then I will go sneak away to New Jersey and go hide in a bomb shelter because everything I was taught to be true in this world has been proven false.
My Starting 5:

PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing

Disagree. This isn't the MVP voting where you are taking in intangibles. Otherwise how did Amare get 1st team last year. If you talk about impact you have to account for KG playing in only 71 games this year.

Stoudamire outclasses KG/Duncan in just about every major statistical category. If you want to base it on impact or (perception) then just fill out KG/Duncan/Kobe/Lebron 1st team every year.

We'll just argue over who gets to be the PG.......
