Shaq Draft Day Stats

Post#1 » by D.Brasco » Mon Apr 28, 2008 5:21 am

Just stumbled on the pre-draft stats from the 92 draft and shaq numbers are pretty damn impressive, especially the 35 inch vert for a 7'1" guy. Although his BF% was pretty high.

That's actually a pretty low figure, right in the range you'd expect from a professional athlete (6-13%). He was in absolutely prime shape back then.

Shaq was in amazing shape in his younger days; especially in Orlando.

Man, I was just watching the 1995 NBA Finals (his third season in the NBA) and his physique was unbelievable.

He was 315 pounds of muscle; amazing.

I mean, back then, he was built like Dwight Howard is right now, but even taller and stronger.

Dwight is 285 now, Shaq was 315 pounds and it was all muscle.

Man, what an athlete he was. He was so strong, yet so fast and so explosive.

Best player out of that draft was Oliver Miller.

Damn, I wonder what his body fat % was, 80? Oliver was so fat he used to sweat gravy.

+1. I would love to see a prime Shaq going up against a prime Dwight. That would be an awesome matchup. I would put my money on Shaq dominating each and every time though. I believe Shaq would demand his "Superman" title back if he was still in his prime. But now, the title is clearly Dwight's.

Well I do question his body fat% that people say that he has now... usually when you hit 10% you have a six-pack and as much as Shaq was/is a physical freak I don't think he has had a six-pack for quite a while.

Those are projections, Shaq's standing reach is only 1 inch taller than Greg Oden's, despite being 2 inches taller without shoes, and having 3 inches longer wingspan?? I'm calling bull.
