Question from a Pistons fan ?

Post#1 » by Sub-Zero » Mon Apr 28, 2008 7:45 am

Just had an argument with some friends about Kobe's size. I said he's about 6'8" 230 and not the 6'6" 220 that hes listed at and thus slightly bigger than Jordan.

Even when you measue him up against guys like luke walton whos listed at 6'7" Kobe is substantially bigger. So who better to help settle this argument than Laker fans, so PLZ help.

See you in June !

Didn't Kobe admit to a kid that he's really 6'5"?

Kobe is about 6'5.5'' - 6'5.75'' without shoes... so he's basically between 6'6'' and 6'7'' with shoes on

There's no way he's 230, he hasn't been since about 05. He also isn't 6'8" and that's not really debatable if you watch him play. He's without question shorter than guys like LeBron and Tmac, and clearly about an inch or two taller than Dwade. 6'6" is about right, maybe close to 6'7". Perhaps a hair taller than Jordan.

Kobe said he dropped 19 lbs during the offseason and said he weighed around 205 lbs. The way he's looking now it's obvious he put that muscle back on; there's no way he would've made it through a season of contact without adding a little muscle. Kobe was huge in the 05' season though.

I'd say Kobe is right around 6'6 with shoes.

6'5 with no shoes, 6'7 with big hair and shoes.

Weight? 220 seems about right.

I can't believe how many people on the Lakers board don't know the answer to this question and I can't imagine any fan that has been following the game for more then a year doesn't know the answer.

He is listed at 6'7 on some sites and sometimes 6'6.

His actuall height is 6'5 which is not only clear but he said it himself. He said on Jay Leno "I don't know why the nba lies about the heights but I am 6'5 but they list me at 6'7"
Kobe then said he is glad he is not 6'6 because that is just to tall.

What the nba usually does is they take your height with shoes on and then either round up or add a full inch. Sometimes they even add several inches to match your position. Barkley was listed at 6'7 yet in his book he says he is 6'5. If he were a sg he would probably have been listed at 6'6.

They have there draft measurements with shoes and without predraft and then if you look up there height on nba.com you will see they always are taller.

Sometimes the players grow but they never change it like KG who is 7'1 now yet he is still listed at 6'11.

It's not even a question of agreeing if the player says his actuall height how can you debate it? How can you look up a player see 6'7 and think he is when the nba always adds height and all you have to do is look up there predraft measurements?

I'm from Flint, Michigan. And thanks for all your help guys, congrats on your sweep 2nite.

The lakers play some beautiful ball, their ball movement is outstanding and Kobe seems to have faith in the current squad and good job by mitch Kupchik and Bus for keeping KB24 instad of shaq.

Next stop, appears 2 be Utah and last time I checked yall own Utah, but they will be well prepared and I hope the lakers can take care of them.

P.S. A rematch of the 2004 finals would be good TV.
