Former Marquette University player Jim Boylan has emerged as the leading candidate to become the lead assistant to new Bucks coach Scott Skiles.

That's fine with me. He flamed out as Bulls head coach but most assistants do under those circumstances. If Marquette gets off to a slow start they can fire Buzz and Boylan can do double duty.

Yep, pretty much expected him to be the top choice for lead assistant once Chicago let him go and we hired Skiles.

Well we probably won't hear anything more about Sampson until toward the end of the week I would imagine. Because according to this article Skiles will probably have his staff in place by the end of the month.

Boylan was just a Dollar Store version of an NBA coach for the Bulls, They were not going to pay money for a real head coach since they were spending on Skiles after letting him go.

Boylan is a fine assistant - but he wasnt expected to be a success. Players did not listen to him because they looked on him as a temporary worker, sort of a substitute teacher

Imagine that - using a caretaker coach only for the rest of the season. They should sign him to a multi-year contract before we sign him as lead assistant.

I honestly don't know much about a lot of those names other than what I read here. All seem to come from systems in which they were successful/filled their roles well.
Also, most people are excited by these appointments and it would seem that Hammond and now Skiles are getting what they want.

And with that, let the cautious optimism continue to grow!

Boylan

I just saw the article as it is printed in the paper and I can't stop laughing about the line right beneath the title. I can't believe they printed it like that, don't they have editors?

Put it this way. Boylan was on the Bulls staff for a few years, and we have absolutely no idea what he did.

Bucks.com updated their website to reflect all the assistants and soforth that have been let go. The only other name listed for assistant coaches is Bill Peterson, and supposedly they are still evaluating him.

I get the impression that perhaps Boylan, Sampson, and Wolf are done deals.. with perhaps an announcement in the next day or so. Not sure about the third person, or if he will feel the need to continue to hold onto Peterson.

So maybe Hollins instead of Neal?

OK, fine. But here's the one thing we do know about Boylan: he was astoundingly, staggeringly, unbelievably bad as a head coach.

"We're not hiring him as a head coach."

I know that. But if Skiles gets ejected, let someone else - anyone else - run the rest of the game.

Are you kidding??? Or what if a meteor hits Skiles car on the way to the Bradley Center, then the entire franchize is screwed!!!!
