He's Arrived
From ESPN:
<<Meanwhile, Dwight Howard hasn't been called super for nothing. Just take a look at the short all-time list of players to average 22 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks for a single playoff series.
Player Team Round
'08 Dwight Howard Magic 1st Round
'79 Moses Malone Rockets 1st Round
'77 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Lakers Conf. Semis
'74 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Bucks Conf. Semis
Blocks became official in 1972-73>>
This was previously posted on the Magic forum, but as the Magic/Raptors series did not get as much national coverage as the others, I thought this might clue some people in...

He did this against the Raptors though...possibly the weakest team in the NBA both mentally and physically
Physical specimens like Howard should dominate that team...LeBron completely dominates them because they have no physical players.
If Detroit advances, he'll be up against a much tougher test. Wallace has size and length, McDyess is kinda old, but he's built like a truck, and Maxiell is a freak athlete with a lot of power.
Howard is still young and raw. A playoff series against the Pistons will be a good test for him and the Magic to see where both of them really are. Then we'll see if he really, truely has arrived.
He will arrive one day...I just think he's a year away.

The best thing I can say about him is that I see 20-20s from him so often that I'm not impressed anymore when it's reported to me. He's an animal. I'm thinking the Magic may well validate their complaints that they've not received enough recognition for their regular season.
...... of course, the Rashard Lewis contract still looks like some kind of sick basketball satire to me, but he's played well too.

Detroit/Philly no doubt will be tougher to get 20/20's but he looks like a different man this postseason

52 wins in a season and a playoff series won. He's arrived. He's nowhere near his peak but he won't be for a few more years. Doesn't mean he hasn't arrived.

I think to those who are mentioning the Raptors as weak competition and stuff, all that can be said is this:
Yeah, they are a donut team but there are tons of guys in the league who couldn't have dropped 3 different 20-20 games on Toronto (including back-to-back games) and averaged 23/18/3. Howard crushed Toronto pretty badly and his interior presence was HUGE for Orlando.
How he performs against Detroit (or Philly) will be something else to watch but for now, he's dominated a team en route to a playoff series victory after leading his team to 52 regular-season wins and posting huge stats... that's worth some excitement and recognition.
