Who Do We Draft?
Colangelo is going to try his hardest to make up for his first draft pick and snag a stud with the 17th. He has been known to draft fairly well in Pheonix so i have high hopes that we will get us at lest a solid rotation player.
how about this for a young, long & athletic second unit?
PG- Roko Ukic 6'5''
SG- Chris Douglas Roberts 6'7''
SF- Jamario Moon 6'8"
this would cause a lot of matchup problems...
or we could go with Roy Hibbert, a proven guy who could eat up boards and might earn a starting job if Smitch still wants Bargs with the first unit.
SF- Bargnani
PF- Bosh
C- Hibbert
a few other guys who stand out to me are Batum from France (i know another euro but we know those best), Chase Buddinger (good motor, slasher, tough d), JaValle McGee (7'6" wingspan shot blocking rebounding freak but PROJECT), Joe Alexander (sleeper who is super athletic and fits a need), and Brandon Rush (role player but a solid Delfino upgrade).
and then there are the guys who could fall to us who i would take with open arms based on potential alone.
Anthony Randolph
Gallinari
Green
DeAndre Jordan
who am i missing? i left a few i knew won't fall to us out. i want some early opinions on who everyone wants/thinks our pick will be.

Nbadraft.net has JaVale McGee, of Nevada, C, at our spot.

Looks like an interesting player. Solid youtube clips at least.

Hibbert is soooo slow. He has bust written all over him right now. We better not draft him. (he did not improve at all from his junior to senior year...what if he peaked already, we are screwed.)
Hibbert had a pretty damn good junior year and losing Jeff Green last summer didn't help his cause. If he can commit to getting into NBA shape and comes ready to play like Big Baby did in Boston. I have hope that a 7'2" player in the post could open up some room for some easy treys and actually have someone to offensive rebound with Bosh when those long rebounds go up in the air. It is rare to find a seven-plus footer with agility and power in the post. with the right coaching and some good luck for us he could end up giving us exactly what we need.

I have a different opinion on him, but there is no point for me to disagree with any of your points since you made some good points there.
I do not see more rooms for him to grow, and I do not think he's fast enough for the NBA. Big men's success in NCAA does not translate well into NBA. Hibbert doesn't seem to have a very high basketball IQ on the court, and his lack of explosiveness, makes me feel he will only be a decent backup C at best. Also, if Big Baby plays in Raptors, he will be a very bad fit with our style, and his talent will probably get unnoticed.

Batnum would be a good pickup at #17, an athletic wing is something that we sorely need. His length might make him a pretty good defender. Plus he seems to have great potential. If he pans out, he would be everything that we need at the wings.
His skinny frame is a concern, knowing that some toughness is lacking in this Raptors squad. The only two things I have against him is his inconsistency and work ethic (as reported in DX). This sounds too similar to Delfino. Who cares if you have the athleticism to get to the rim but doesn't do it right?

like:
batum- project
mcgee - might drop, still a project, wouldnt trade up for him
lopez- good role player, but expect nothing more
westbrook - if available at late lottery, i'd be happy to to move up for him
randolph - havent seen him play at all lol, but sounds intriguing.
ibaka - not at 17th
dorsey - not at 17th
jawai - not at 17th
weaver - not at 17th
walker - not at 17th
dislike:
jordan- project, disappointing season, wouldnt trade up for him.
hibbert- really slow
alexander - cant create. takes awkard shots.
on the fence:
greene - havent seen him much
cdr- think he's pretty versatile, but just looks weird..
gordon- only watched one game, and looked like an undersized shooter. but he does seem to get to the free throw line and able to score. not sold yet. certainly wouldnt trade up for him
