Actually Horford averaged only .4 more defensive rebounds than Smith. The big difference between the two is on the offensive boards because Smith is always hanging out on the perimeter.

Defensive rebounding has been the Hawks big weakness all season. They don't box out and frequently will try to leak out early for a fast break instead of boxing out a jump shooter to prevent them from following their shot. they are near the bottom of the league in defensive rebounding but they took care of the defensive boards last game.

The hawks won't be a good team until they make major improvement in that area.

Horford doesn't play as many minutes as Smith though. Per40 they are fine individually as defensive rebounders, visually you can tell that Smith could be better if he focused on boxing out a little more after jump shots so he should be fairly well above average in that department.

Smith only played 4 more minutes than Horford. They both need to do a better job. Smith doesn't box out much and Horford slacked up during the second half. Maybe he got tired. They do ok but they can definitely improve.

But they need help and haven't gotten much of it. Aside from Smith and Horford everyone else is crap on the defensive boards.

Detroit has been consistantly one of the best teams in the league. Once again, the franchise is SO destroyed that they win 50+ and 60 games? So they win all 82 if not destroyed? Could the by better. Sure. Maybe.

Detroit picks Melo, or Wade or Bosh, and you know what happens? Nothing. Larry Brown would be their coach for 2 years meaning they wouldn't get off the bench. I don't give a damn how good they would have looked in practice. Brown played his teams long and hard and went to the bench sporatically. Wade, Bosh and Melo would have been waving towels. Argue this and you are arguing every single piece of evidence about the man. Better yet, he has a history of trading lottery picks, and wanted to trade Darko after his rookie year.

Even if Larry Brown wasn't the coach, you are still saying that one of these players would remove another player from the Pistons roster.

Wade would have had to move either Billups or Hamilton. It wouldn't be Billups, and they move Hamilton they lose his shooting which was important to their success. With melo, you loose Prince who is probably the most versetile defender on the floor. Bosh would have had to move Ben or Rasheed Wallace. That wasn't going to happen. Once again, their franchise destroying move wasn't a big deal.

I would love to have Kaman on my Detroit team right now, he was in that draft as well. We got Rodney Stuckey out of the Darko trade so I think it worked out just fine.

As for Bowie going 2 and Jordan 3 being the worst mistake, I can go one further.

Houston was offered that no. 2 pick plus Drexler for Ralph Sampson. They turned it down to form the 'Twin Towers' team.

MJ, Clyde, Hakeem all on the same team from the get would have spelled doom for the rest of the league for over a decade. That could have been a dynasty along the lines of the old Celtic's teams.

Boston? Nope...Rondo takes that out.
Phoenix? Nope...Grant Hill or Diaw...either way...shouldn't be taking threes.
San Antonio? Nope...Parker
Lakers?...technically, but I am sure they aren't a fan of Odom(if Bynum is there) or Kobe jacking up threes.

Detroit - I would have to say we qualify as a championship caliber team that has 3 point shooters at the 1, 2, 3 and Sheed to boot.
