Suspensions: Which Could Have a Bigger Impact?

Post#1 » by Scalabrine » Tue Apr 29, 2008 1:14 pm

During the scuffle at the Hawks vs. Celtics video has come out of both teams benchs and Kendrick Perkins came onto the court for the Celtics for a second and Marvin Williams stepped onto the court as well. If both players are suspended which will have a bigger impact on there teams?

Celtics Depth Chart without Perkins
Powe/Davis
Garnett/Davis/Scalabrine
Pierce/Posey
Allen/Posey/House
Rondo/Cassel

Hawks Depth Chart without Williams
Horford/Zaza
Smith/Jones/West
Chilldress
Johnson/Stoudamire
Bibby/Law

Johnson is going to be playing the whole game that for sure and Chilldress played a great game last night but if they lose Williams they will have very little to work with at the SG/SF spot unless they choose to move Smith down to SF (which is something they have done little of all season).

Which team will have more trouble without there possibly suspended player? I know Marvin is better than Perkins but Perkins big body is something that none of the Hawks can really matchup with.

I think that any loss for the Hawks, even losing Zaza would be detrimental, if they have any hope of carrying this thing on, they will need every rotation player that they have...

It would hurt the Hawks WAY more.

Powe is just as or more productive than Perkins and Glen Davis is a fine player to have as a backup so It wouldn't really hurt them per say. Marvin Williams is the starting SF meaning childress would have to start leaving NO ONE to back up the 2 or 3.

The Hawks have only been running a six or seven man rotation anyway, so they would probably just be adding Law and maybe Soloman Jones into the rotation if Marvin is out, the problem for them is that if one of them get into foul trouble then they have very little to work with.
