what about Mareese Speights? is he declared? wide body, center, decent offensive game with his back to the basket. would seem to fill a need with Rasho entering his final year of his contract and bargnani not showing much offensively down low. I say this not having watched him or Hibbert play, and only having seen Lopez in the tournament...and only having read his profile on Draftexpress. sounds intriguing though..

we get our wing player by trading one of our point guards. bring Roko over. let him and delfino play backup PG minutes. keep Hump if we get him cheap. keep Kapono

then BC makes whatever he can make out of Parker/Garbo/Moon/Graham/Baston/Brezec

You can't allow a 17th pick overall determine your moves, when you have expirings available to get a key player.

To porject a 17th into a hole and then limit yourself to what NBA players you can get is extremely flawed IMO. It's a seventeenth pick, not a fifth pick.

if you guys think playing bargs at SF will work is dellusional. He does not have the handles to break down defenses at all and it failed horribly in the playoffs.

the raps need an athletic SF thats 6'10 with power and speed in the mould of lebron james. its obvious we won't find something of his caliber but it would be nice to get someone with a few of his attributes.

If we trade Jose or TJ and get a decent return to fill some holes, maybe a PG... DJ Augustin as a replacement?

If we are content with Ukic as backup, go for a SG/SF or C. Donte Green, Batum, CDR or Hibbert to name a few.

we need an SF and C

if we can trade Tj for a 2nd round pick that would be awesome i think or even move up in the draft to get deandre jordan or an eric gordon, oj mayo type.

but at 17 i would look at CDR or even robin lopez, a legit 7 foot center that can grind a little bit down low...he is raw and not like his brother but i would take robin or hibbert...hibbert is gonna be a poster boy for dunkers. we dont need a big man that can score alot, we have bosh but we need a guy that can block shots and rebound..in the free agent market there isnt alot, there is diop and ratliff

brandon rush reminds me of paul pierce a little bit.

i think CDR would look good there...he is a slasher that has a jump shot and at 6'7 and long wingspan can cause trouble.

You want to trade TJ Ford for 2nd round pick? You're kidding right?

Donte Green is a 6'10 SF... reminds me of David West/Rashard Lewis.

Going to throw out a name that hasn't been mentioned but I think could be the Zeke pick of the draft: J.R. Giddens

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoKejSN5hH4

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/J.R.-Giddens-74/

http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/jrgiddens.asp *written in 2002

My reasons for why I'd think he'd be a solid pick

4) Has been through a lot as college player. Not only has he major shown improvements in his game but now sounds like a pretty mature dude. While at the same time having a edge to him which the Raps obviously need.

3) Familiarity with the current offensive system. Used to a freelancing system where he's the number one option. We'd be giving him a role he's comfortable with and could flourish in.

2) Ranks 2nd in Win Score ahead of players like Shan Foster and Stephon Curry. The lightbulb thing they talk about in the DE profile is very intriguing.

1) Terrific physical tools which he uses to play bigger than he is. That to me is the quality that the Raps are missing a lot. Chris has it. TJ has it. We need more of it.

I don't see how he could go above us with his questionable past and despite looking like a really solid player.

Except that he sucks. He will be a poor man's version of Tim Thomas.

With the 24th pick we can pick Brandon Rush and with the 32nd pick we can pick Joey Dorsey.

I like this alot, id look at this further if I was BC. Maybe not rush but those 2 picks, cause we need dorsey

I pretty much like where everyone is coming from so far in this thread (except for the guy who said Budinger plays tough d).
I'd rank C's in our range:
1)McGee (huge upside)
2)Koufos (Big, skilled, tough)
3)Hibbert (obviously massive, but slow and woefully inconsistent)
As far as swingmen, I would take CDR over a guy like Rush for a few reasons. Rush is more of a shooter than a slasher as his handles are below average, and he has a history of knee problems. If we were going to take a risk on a guy with past knee issues I'd rather it be Billy Walker because of his toughness, physicality and athleticism.

J.R. Giddens.
Remember the name.
The kid was a supposed top 5 pick until his off court problems threw that possibility out the door.
He has the talent to be that 17 PPG SG we need in the future, and is actually a solid rebounder from that position. He has said to have gotten his act together, so we should take a chance with a potential star rather than a solid bench player.

Reminds me of J.R. Smith kinda'..

I think Douglas-Roberts is soft, and Hibbert is a potential bust, also agree with you on Rush though. I think we have to trade up to get Mayo, Bayless or Gordon, but McGee looks good at 17, we need a wing/slasher first, and hope Bargs gets it together to split time with Dorsey at C who we should look at in the Early 2nd round; after picking up one of those three would be tremendous, Dorsey looks like a player we need to focus on (Defensive Leader). We need to make a couple trades and fix this roster; Rasho, Graham, TJ ..... Out

Once again people are overrating CDR. I probably have better handles than him. He has to play in an up and down offense not a spread it out three point shooting offense like Toronto. He could carve out a decent career in Golden State or Phoenix. He's Rodney Carney with a worse jumper.
I watch you even when you are sleeping.

- Chris Douglas-Roberts
- Nicolas Batum
- Brandon Rush
- Bill Walker...projected 2nd rounder but we can probably send off someone.

He does remind me of JR Smith, id say actiely try to move up to the 3-6 spot and acquire two early 2nd rounders (A trade with Minnesota's picks would be Ideal, id move a combination of Bargs, Rasho, TJ and our 17 to get it 3rd pick and either 31 or/and 34) if we are not trading for an established wing like Maggette or Artest.... If we do trade our assets for an estabished player, then, id like to see us move our pick for seattles picks (or similar); best talent at 24 and making sure we take take Dorsey at 32

I will probably go with Donte Green at this point. I am surprised no one mentioned Billy Walker, since a lot of people here loved this guy a couple of months ago.
