celtics handing out green t shirts tomorrow night. i aint wearin it. i hope nobody else does either

You realize thats so the whole crowd is wearing green, the Celtics team colors? Every team does that for the playoffs.

It's interesting how teams do that. At times I find it to be rather distracting depending on the color. Atlanta didn't appear to take part.

At times it can really make a stadium a lot more energetic like the warriors last year. I wonder if anyone saw what the Magic did for game 5. Half the section was blue and the other half white. I haven't seen other teams do that and thought it was clever and I'm impressed they were able to pull it off.

yeah, all the cheesy teams do it. its just like every stadium now biting off the terrible towel. if your gonna get gimmicky, atleast do something original

its just WAY too contrived to me. id like to think boston still has SOME of the old magic without free t-shirts and cheerleaders

I can't say I noticed the Orlando crowd but that is pretty impressive.

I'm old school. I would probably wear a throwback and look like an idiot with all the T's around me.

What's wrong with shirts? The Warriors made it popular last season and they had one of the greatest crowds I've ever seen.

Listen, I am a product of 80s basketball. I lived it, and I still play like it when I play, but who cares if they hand out t-shirts? Sometimes the old whiny fans spouting off "it is not what it used to be like" gets a bit old. But t-shirts? With the prices the charge for tickets, beer, food, and parking, they should be giving away uniforms.

I still hate the cheerleaders.

Don't wear the shirt then. Just make sure you wear green to the game though.

The Winnipeg Jets were one of the first professional franchises, at least from what I can remember, to ask their crowds to wear one color. They used to do it for the playoffs, and let me tell you - it unifies the crowd even more. If you didn't wear white to the game, there would be "police", who would fine you a $1 (all proceeds were donated to charity). Upon paying the fine, you would be given a white T-shirt. Remember how everyone used to say Chicago Stadium had the loudest crowds? Talk to an NHL player who played in Winnipeg Arena for the playoffs, and they'll tell you that this crowd made Chicago Stadium sound like a bunch of Helen Kellers.

Golden State's crowd last year was phenomenal.
Boston's crowd is always great during the playoffs.
A sea of green, in a critical game 5, would be insane. Gang Green just got a bit bigger.

A bandwagon fan does not a green t-shirt make. I don't know if I recall correctly but did we not have towels/t-shirts of the same color when we made that ridiculous 4th quarter comeback against the Nets?

I dont see anything wrong with it. Dutch fans are a see of orange at Holland's home football games and have been doing it for years.

What's wrong with 20,000 people showing their support?

That seems a bit tough. In that country at that time, $1 was probably their total salary for a month.

This educating people how to be fans was not needed when Bird played. Maybe this was because real fans had most of the seats, and knew about the sport. These days, Jose wears his suit after getting a ticket from his pal Norm who has tickets from the company he audits, these people arrive late and leave early and don't know the difference between Big Baby and Big Nasty.

I went to many of Bird's games and I was appalled at the guys in suits, reading newspapers, not paying attention. Of course, I did not have the greatest seats, but even then, there were "fairweather fans"

From your bad seat, was there a pole in front of you, you were probably looking at Doug Moe or Red Holzman and their team was down by 25 in the second quarter so they were seeing what the newspaper was saying about the new Richard Pryor movie.

Ok so the celtics organization handing out green shirts= bandwagon fans.. makes since. Lets all act so offended that the celtics have cheerleaders while we're at it cuz it's hip to do, that way everyone will know we have been fans for soo long and will be so impressed.
