Way too much hype for the west prior to the postseason

Post#1 » by Pancho_Pantera » Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:07 am

And rightfully so. Never have so many teams finished so close to each other from top to bottom, but boy has the first round disappointed. Besides the Houston and Rockets series, all the other series have been pretty stale. On the other hand, the East has been jammed pack with action. Even the Orlando/Toronto series had its moments.

True, but I mean, New Orleans was clearly better then Dallas this year, same with Utah due to Houston's injuries. Then the Lakers were far superior to the Nuggets anyways. The only real surprise is the Suns and Spurs. And for some reason, I feel like if anyone can push a 7 game series after being down 3-0 is Shaq and Nash.

The East has just been dissappointing. The Wizards and Cavs have been the best series, but Cavs will probably close them out at home. And if Boston and Detroit aren't flukes, they should win in six. So I mean, I just think its the shock of the East's top teams being so troubled by athleticism, the West, at least I always thought, was pretty clear outside of the Suns, Spurs.

West first round is a JOOOOKE. 2nd round should more than make up for it though. At least, I hope so.

And even as the Rox/Jazz has been the best series...Jazz could still win it in 5.

So yea it was over hyped out West I gotta admit. But I think round 2 will be great. Spurs/Hornets....Jazz/Lakers. Those are gonna be good.

Ehh if the Lakers play this dominating, they will completly dominate Utah, even though I think Utah will give them complete hell with the matchups.

And New Orleans dominated the Spurs in the regular season and have home court against them. So I'm picking Hornets vs. Lakers and I think thats a completly even series talent wise, but Lakers would pull it out cuz of experience and home court.

I almost feel bad for Denver. They won 50 games and got swept. They make a good case for restructuring the playoffs.

I would love to see 16 team playoffs. Lakers vs. Toronto. Kobe can stat pad and catch up to Jordan when he average 100 points in that series.

Charles Barkley called it. He said the 1st round out west won't be as good as people think and he was right.

Anyway I feel sorry for the Nuggets almost.

I think I agree on the Lakers. The Jazz can foul and maul T-Mac. But Kobe will get the calls McGrady doesn't and the Jazz have to change up. If they can't foul..they can't defend. I think the Lakers will probably get em in 5.

But Spurs Hornets. I mean really? After watching the Spurs dismantle the Suns...do you really think they will lose to the Hornets regardless of what happened in the regular season?

I think its a good case against it. If they were so good they would have won a game at home. They don't deserve a spot over Philly or Atlanta.

They have been lopsided, but there have been moments. I think the teams got caught up and just said 'f this, we're better' hence the domination !

East's 1st round is better than the West's 1st round, who woulda thunk?

Good point. All this talk about how things should be restructured because it's not fair to the West, and yet Atlanta is even with the team I thought was the best in the league before the playoffs.

Originally I didn't think it was going to be as good as generally thought, but it's turned out to be lesser than I thought it'd be, too.

It was probably just horribly matched series. Denver just has no answer for kobe. Houston got cracked with injury. Josh Howard pulls the rag from beneath and SPurs vs. Suns has been hackashaq and flop fest. Dissapointed, not so much. You will see a competetive PO once teams are able o go 100% no BS basketball.

I mean its more exciting now. Im watching games for the losing teams perspective. Every team is capable of coming back in the west. And now I have the adrenaline rush from that hanging on the rope pressure. Its not over until the fat lady sings.

2nd round should be much more interesting.

But East has clearly been more competitive
