per ESPN radio, after the game.

that's cold
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Rough fall for Avery, you gotta believe he's thinking back to two years ago, and game three.

for reals? That IS cold why fire him right after the game? At least wait a week or something.

Not official yet. They were just basing it off of Stein's article where he said Avery was definitely gone if they lost game 5.

Is this true?

Avery has done a terrible job as of late on the Mavs, but I'm positive he could do well with another team. Avery was awesome in 2006 when he set up plays suited for the team, but now that defenses have collapsed on Dirk, he failed to make adjustments. He insisted on his iso plays that kept failing against teams with good coaches.

Saw it coming, but this soon? Wow. To be fair, he completely misused JKidd and the team has already peaked a year or two ago, so the coaching change IMO was necessary. But so soon? Cuban must've been p-o'd after the loss.

He's not a good coach anyway. He just inherited a good team.

It seems like he would be a good motivator but needs someone else to actually run the team.

Avery outlived his usefulness.

I'll stick with my opinion that it wasn't avery's fault.. Cuban's just looking for a scapegoat because he completely foiled up on that Kidd trade, and now is stuck with a 35 year old that will be seeking an extension.. Avery's too good a coach to be out the league long.. The guy had Dallas in the finals 2 years ago and had them winning 67 games last season..

No doubt the Kidd trade was a bust and I doubt a coaching change will magically fix that, but perhaps a different coach could use Kidd a bit better.

If that's true, then damn. I can't believe they would do it right after the game. That's harsh.

If it's true I hope he finds a home with the Bulls.

that is pretty bad of the Mavs to fire after a loss, at least wait some time, I mean, that is doubly hard on Avery.

Not very respectful of Cuban.

Who would have thought that both Riley and Johnson would no longer be coaches 22 months after the finals?
