What was JKIDD Thinking?
Before I start I wan't you all to know that I'm not being b1tchy nor am I bagging JKIDD.
I said as soon as i heard he wanted to go to Dallas they couldn't win. In fact they are officially one and done. I said he wouldn't be able to compete night in and night out against w/c point guards.
The man has great vision at times, so why couldn't he see this coming?
Sure he wasn't to know that Dirk would get hurt. But it was never gonna work. I sincerly hope that one day he gets his ring. But it won't be with Dallas. We know that Thorn mugged Cuban in this deal and we are (most of us) happy with what we got in return. I bet the fakers are spewing they didn't pull the trigger last year to get JKIDD. That would of been a better situation for him. You only have to look at his flagrant foul on pargo(?) to realise he was a grumpy beaten old man. That is so unJKIDD (except maybe his private life) I just feel so disappointed for him. Why didn't the people around him tell him this was no good. I mean blind fredy could of seen this coming.

The Mavericks' problems run deeper than Kidd right now. They made a good move by getting rid of Avery, but now they have to find some way to address their scoring problem(s). Stackhouse looked washed up far too many times this series, and Josh Howard is as mentally soft as they come.
Kidd just didn't fit into Avery's system... Let's wait and see what happens next year.

I've responded to the flagrant in another thread to Stone.
I agree about the trade and have said the trade sucked for Kidd and we made out like bandits if we were to trade him anywhere. No player on the Mavs compliment his game and if there were any Mav to do that, it would be Josh Howard, but we all know his situation. Plus they have a coach that possibly runs more isos than Frank.
BUT...what I can't stand is the fact that people believe we're now contenders with a core of Harris, VC, RJ and belittle Kidd's game here in the process. I'm always looking for an explanation on this one and when no one can give one to me, I'll come off negative.
You also really have to give Paul a lot of credit. None of the elite guards, possibly other than Deron (For some reason, when they play each other, Deron gets even better), have contained him this season.
Rich Rane wrote:I've seen the play a dozen times and I've seen worse (Although we've all seen worse for a suspension too).
Stone, you and a friend...try stripping the ball from a friend while he jumps in the air. It would take a lot of force, wouldn't it? Now...try doing it on a fast break. What are the chances when he brings it up, you're going to miss completely or hit him hard? Simple physics everyone.

I think people underestimate the $$ factor in JKidd's decision to leave.
Obviously in his waning years he wants a chance at a ring and playing for Dallas is an upgrade over the Nets in this desire BUT from what I've read he only became adamant about a trade after Thorn refused to give him a contract extension (this is when he got the 'migraine'). Also, pure speculation but perhaps Cuban and his deep pockets had indicated to Kidd/Kidd's agent that Kidd would get one last big payday.
Now the situation in Dallas may look grim but I believe Kidd still has at least one good year left. Sure he will get destroyed by the likes of Chris Paul but he can still be effective (see game 3). A preseason & full year with Dallas will be of great help to Kidd.
The thing now is what does Cuban do with Kidd's contract. If Kidd doesn't get an extension this off-season he can make things very difficult (as Nets fans know). An unhappy Kidd can be havoc to your team.
Ironically I think if he stayed with the Nets he would have gotten more interest this off-season partly due to his expiring contract but also because the Nets failures were blamed on others (Frank / VC mainly) and he was able to hide behind them and keep his value relatively high but the trade to Dallas raised expectations and put the spotlight on his play and the unfortunate matchup with CP exposed him and decreased his value and interest from other teams I'm sure.

Rich I certainly aint one of those guy's that think that we are contenders becuase of the trade. and would never hack on JKIDD's game. Your right tho the I've seen worse flagrants I've also seen suspensions for less. JKIDD's standing in the game is the reason why the league will put this down as one off.
Birth of the cool, JKIDD did choose dallas because of the coin. I still don't think a new coach will make much difference to him getting his ring in dallas. It won't happen. I wish he just did a payton and went to a team like SA or Boston (yeah I know we hate boston) for him to get his ring. but he probably has too much pride for that.

Serves Kidd right, he got embarrassed in front of the entire country and he looks god awful and now when Cuban denies his extension this summer, the Maverick fans can watch him cancer up their team's locker room just like he did to ours.

I don't think we're contenders with just Harris, Carter, and RJ either, but I don't understand how we'd have been better off/contenders keeping Jason Kidd here.

Dallas's problem in that series wasn't Jason Kidd, it was Josh Howard deciding to disappear.
Howard went from a 20 - 7 - 2 on 45% shooting in the regular season to a 13-7-2 guy on 29% shooting in the playoffs - against possibly the worst defensive small forward still active in the playoffs - Peja Stojakovic.
Pretty tough to win a series, on the road, when your #2 scoring option decides to stay home.
An aside:
Anyone else picturing Howard calling up Carmelo to smoke a J on his couch? Howard HAS to be traded to the Nuggets, it just needs to happen.

I never said we were contenders with Kidd still here, but I have always pushed for the fact that even with Frank here, a trade that involved either RJ or VC + fillers for Brand or JO or a great big would at least get us 2nd in the Atlantic and set us up for a nice run in the playoffs, a much better situation than the last three seasons. Kidd handling the ball here is much better than having to rely on VC's playmaking abilities, no matter how above average they are for a 2 guard. Harris's playmaking abilities are nowhere near Kidd's and as much as people want to go after Kidd's defense in the NO series, who this year has done well against Paul?
Once again, I liked the trade and I too believe we got a great deal. I just see no reason to bash Kidd repeatedly when we're the ones watching the playoffs after a horrible post-break after the trade and no end to the horrible pain in sight with our core and our coach.

its not simple physics.. your missing something.
i dont think you understand that only one hand was on the ball... he grabbed him by his neck witht he other hand...since when does a player trying to strip the ball grab someone's neck????? so yea..its simple physics when you are trying to grab the ball.. but not so simple when you grab someone by the neck. heres a replay for you...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LJFjcJq0-rQ
AND.. you have only seen worse because Pargo was quick to react by putting his hands down.. if he hadnt done so quick enough.. his face would be pretty messed up right now...

Cuban realises that jkidd wasn't the answer offers jkidd a buy out to get rid of him. Jkidd greedily accepts. then Thorn signs JKIDD to the mid-level exception. Thorn then trades Boone swift williams(marcus) to Indianna for JO( I know every one thinks JO is overated and finished but hear me out) Everybody manages to miracously get better, both health and ability wise arounfd JKIDD. Haha the only thing you're missing from that offseason is a new coach, but hey...we can't have EVERYTHING, can we?
If all that ever happened, I'll stop posting.

I pretty much respect all Cubs fans for still supporting their team. I mean, how many years has it been since a World Series?

Hey Rich, I have got heaps of conspiracy theories the NBA is a whole conspiracy. That one may not eventuate but Thorn will be working the phones once the lottery is set.
Speaking of lottery how's this conspiracy theory #864
Seattle and Minnesota will be in the top two of the lottery. It will be Stern pay-off to minnesota for them givin KG to the C's. Seattle will get a top two pick cos the city agreed to a new stadium.
Pat Riley has jumped ship cos he has been told he will get pick 4 he wanted the number one but Stern said "no pat youve had yours it's someone else's turn" The number three pick is up for grabs and Thorn has his silver tongue overtime. He can see the third is up for grabs and he wants it.
Do have too much time on my hands???

I think Thorn trades VC, filler + 21 pick (Dalllas) for Marbury and lottery pick. Marbury bought out. HELLO CAP SPACE.

Sorry dude.
With that lineup, I think Kidd would start if he was 38.
Stockton did till he was 41.
By the way, I thinkwe could have the Olympic team and still wouldn't win the whole thing with Frank as coach.
