Why did Larry Brown take the Bobcats job when the Mavs/Suns

Easier conference, much room for improvement, helping the Bobcats reach the playoffs alone is an achievement...although, I feel that their roster is talented enough to begin with. Any slight improvements from this point onwards can be credited to him as opposed to coaching the Mavs and Suns in a difficult conference where he'll receive some heat if they fail to improve. Plus, I'm not sure if Larry Brown would like working under Mark Cuban.

It's a good situation. The Kitties have a lot of young talent who have consistently underachieved. Therefore there is a lot of potential for improvement even without personnel upgrades if he can just get them to play together as a team. And that, except in NY, has always been what Brown has excelled at.

And btw, Pat Riley, another of my top 5 all-time coaches, just went through a year that made Larry Brown's NY vacation look fun. Even the best can be brought down by circumstances.

Easier to be viewed as a hero when you take over a 30 win team and make them a 50 win team before you bail, then to take over a 55 win team and make them a 60 win team.

I dont think Larry wants to be a hero or make sure he gets credit. IMO he wants to be able to mould the team and get them to play his style of ball.

Thats easier to do with a young team like the Cats. Plus he is going home, MJ and all these small factors come into play

Lets face it, there are a lot of people who dislike Brown. With the Bobcats, he has no expectations. He could win 50 games or 38 games or 55 games or 35 games. (Honestly I can't see them win fewer than 38 unless they have major injures to several players.)

If he went to those two declining ship hellhole teams, he would just take more needless flack. Both rosters don't have the kind of personnel that Larry likes, and the Bobcats have probably the best roster in the NBA for Larry's liking. Full of hardworking, athletic guys who have been poorly coached in their career (J-Rich, Felton, Wallace, Okafor, Dudley, Carroll, and to an extent Nazr).

Larry wants GM-like power and MJ is Isiaheque enough to let him have that power. So trade your average veteran for a young stud early. Lakers have dibs on Fisher or Odom for G.Wallace.

What the F are you talking about? Jordan is Isiahesque (I assume thats what you meant to spell)? What does that mean? You obvously have no clue about the whole Thomas and Brown situation therefore it would be smart not to comment on it because you look like an idiot.

In NY, Brown wanted the power to make trades (and tried to negotiate behind Thomas' back) but Thomas wouldnt give it to him. Just curious, what did you think happened?

Yeah, I was joking. Not only was he only given 1 year, but he was given a roster that had more chemistry and identity issues than any coach could handle, HOF or not. And they still had a semi-decent year, comparably speaking.

The Larry Brown coached New York Knicks won a franchise low 23 wins that year, that sure is semi-decent. Some of you fools have no clue what your talking about half the time.

LB, a prodigal son of NC teams up with another prodigal son, MJ in the only city in the state that has an NBA franchise. No surprise there. Knicks are paying him enough he could do it for free. Morrison and May out most of the season along with their draft picks to go with a decent team that mostly needs time together, playing in a weak division. Where's the decision on LB's part?
