Mike D'antoni Officially Gone (?)

Post#1 » by Orange_Blooded » Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:39 pm

According to SI.com(via the espn bottom line) mike D'antoni will not be back next year. I know many of you/the media have wanted this but I for one am upset at this news. The last four years have been the best years to be a suns fan since Barkley left and I feel we owe coach D, Bryan Colangelo and steve nash above all else.

I'll miss coach D but I guess it's time to move on. Makes me wonder who will be running the team next year and what kind of offense we have to look forward to.

Pat Reilly seems to be the buzz. Don't know if that will come to fruition, seems kind of far fetched but who knows.

Sports Illustrated is a pretty reputable source, I dont think they'd post it if it wasn't the case. I do hope they're wrong though.

maybe we will trade coaches with the mavs, that would be interesting. although i dont think coach D and Cuban would work.

Sad to see Mike go. He certainly had his flaws, but how many coaches were definitely better over the last 4 years? Jackson and Popovich, and that's it. We're not going to get either of them, so there's a good chance the coaching will get worse.

Update: There's no truth to that," Kerr said. "I asked Mike when the story came out and he denied it. Mike's our coach and has done a great job for four years. We'll get together soon and talk about where this team can go from here."

I think the Celtics assistant Thibodeau would do a good job in Phoenix

I'd love Avery if he gets fired as well, he calls timeouts at the right times. He's defensive minded, and he knows how to beat the Spurs. Yeah maybe he'd butt heads with Shaq and Nash. But its not like he'd have alternatives to go to on the bench so he'd have to play them.

Plus if he could get Dirk to play D, he could at least get Amare to.
