No doubt. Hawks have a very bright future in your own Big 3.

You'd think a Celtics fan would remember that that their team made the playoffs 4 years ago with a worst record than these Hawks. Bandwagon fans?
What does this have to do with the discussion? The Bulls made the playoffs in 1986 with a 30-52 record...are all Chicago fans bandwagon fans, too?
Do you even know what it means, troll?
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

The Hawks don't deserve any credit - yet. I put the blame on the C's poor play. My reasoning is that the Hawks a poor offensive team is scoring alot of points relative to what they should. This pins the blame squarely on the D.
However I can see two unlikely scenarios in which the Hawks get credit.
A) The C's barely survive the Hawks but then roll into the finals or win it all. Then we can give the Hawks credit as they presented the biggest challenge.
B) The Hawks win and then procede not to get destroyed in the next round. This would prove they are good team - and the C's aren't just sucking.
Some other scenariors provide little credit..such as
The C's squeeze by the Hawks in seven games but lose in the second round.. This would indicate the C's just weren't that good.
The Hawks pull off a "miracle" only to get flat out MASHED by Cleveland (who loses in the ECF)- this again would prove the C's weren't that good..
I am still betting on scenario A.. Keep the hope alive people..

He was responding to a post from someone who said that the Hawks had the worst record of a postseason team ever. It was a factual innaccuracy as both you and the guy you insulted corrected - and he had a point, the Celtics had a worse record and made it to the playoffs a few short years ago and for a Celtic fan (or player) to forget that is emblamatic of the pridefulness that allows a 66 win team to lose 2 straight playoff games to a 37 win team.

Interestingly enough, I dont the the Celtics deserve any credit for their two wins and I blame them on the Hawks' poor play...
No, I'm just kidding. I think the Cs are a great team but I'm sure they are giving the Hawks credit in the locker room.
What you may fail to realize is that Atlanta basically had two different teams this season. In the first half we were a solid defensive team but a terrible offensive team becuase a) our pg situation was even worse than it is now and b) Joe Johnson's shot was just plain off (seriously, check out the splits - he was doing a Crawford impersonation).
Then we made the trade for Bibby and started scoring a lot more but the defense was shot to hell because Bibby is a terrible defender and we lost a ton of depth in the trade.
The postseason allows you to tighten your rotation though, especially at home. That means that Smith and Horford are getting more minutes and our depth problem is, well, less of a problem.
Atlanta certainly isn't built to win it all. Too thin, too flawed. They are built to put a scare into a team as they are probably better than their record shows due to the midseason trade. Smith isn't really a good shooter but when his shot is falling is is virtually unguardable by any player in the league. Him going off prevents KG from really being able to help which frees up Bibby and Johnson a little.
There is a very strong possibility that the Hawks' rocket fuel runs out tonight in Boston and things are righted in the NBA world, still, you might bet on it but don't necessarilly count on it. They'll probably put up a fight.

You have to give them respect for what they've already done. Who would have predicted that they'd get 2 wins against us.

Yeah, I don't know how you can not give the Hawks and their fans any credit. Even when we got off to the hot start, the Hawks didn't panic and fought back and their fans were behind them.
I'm really impressed with the young Hawks players and their fans. I didn't know they had it in them to get that loud and excited. I'm glad to see it because nothing sadder than a team that gets no support from their home fans in the playoffs, like the Braves.

No, it's true, the C's made the playoffs a couple of years ago with 35 wins.
That guy was just a moron!

Do you give credit to GS for besting Dallas last year? Or was Dallas overrated? I think after watching Dallas get knocked out TWICE in the first round while the GS failed to make the playoffs we have to blame Dallas.. Not only that but GS was beaten easily by the Jazz - a team that didnt' make the finals.
And that GS team IMHO is far superior to this Hawks one.. Anytime you have contests in sports you always have this dilemma. Did one team LOSE because they weren't playing up to their ability or did another team WIN because they played great.
The surefire way to END this argument is to see how the team does in the future. No the C's losing this series would be an epic joke job. that's how it would go down.
Thankfully I doubt that will happen.

It's important to note that Golden State swept the Mavs in the regular season last year, so it wasn't exactly shocking that they took it to Dallas in that series. Sometimes it's all about the matchups.
The Hawks, however, hadn't beaten the C's all year until game 3. As a Hawks fan, I can tell you the Hawks have played their best basketball of the entire season these past two games, hands down. Regardless of how the Celtics have played, at a minimum Atlanta gets an A for effort.
