Kind of long but he talks about last nights games. Apparently he still hates Doc rivers as the Celtics coach.

Yeah, what a true "diehard" C's fan, huh?
*EVEN* if you think the other team is better, you root for yours to win. The faith, some might call it blind faith, in your team is what makes you a true fan. Did I think the Pats could win in 2001 vs. the Rams in the Super Bowl. Yes, because even though all the stats said NO, my fandom made me think YES.
Simmons' act is getting kind of old, anyway...I used to love his columns but the last year or so all the hipster pop-culture references and other stupid **** he says isn't even funny anymore, when I can even understand it

He can root for his team to win but still think they'll lose. Most Giants fans rooted with all their heart but very few thought that they had a chance to win. I see no problem with this. The Nuggets were just dissected by LA and we are battling Atlanta. Plus, Kobe is a proven clutch performer, while we have nobody near that. Finally, Phil vs. Doc? Cmon. With even talent on both sides, it comes down to who can hit big shots (Kobe) and who can make adjustments (Phil). We can beat them if we get there because we'd have home court and we play great D, but I can absolutely see why the Lakers are his choice, C's fan or not.

he is a sports writer.. he answered a question honestly...thats what he is supposed to do. espn doesnt want a sports writer who talks about how his favorite team is great (whether they are or arent)...he is a very good and subjective writer..and when he acts like a homer he admits it..
also...who said he ISNT rooting for the celtics to win??

really? because thats not the vibe ive gotten reading his columns the past few years
then maybe you arent reading all his stuff...
he writes plenty of articles about more than the Celts.. Pats.. etc..
and even though he does write a good amount on his sports teams.. he doenst sit there and talk about how great they are...
i believe part of what makes him such an interesting writer is his love for his sports teams.. people want to hear what he has to say about them.. but my point was that even though he may talk about his teams a lot.. he doesnt sit there and talk about how great they are...

You would take Ray Allen or Paul Pierce over Kobe Bryant? Get your head out of your Celtics ass. That is being such a homer to say something like that. Kobe is an MVP candidate and a legit top 3 player in the NBA if not the best player. In my opinion, the three best players in the NBA are Kobe, Lebron, and Duncan. Nobody can dominate games like they can.

When did he say he wasnt rooting for the C's??
Well, maybe I was a bit brash...he said the Lakers will win. Not necessarily rooting FOR them, but certainly not rooting for the C's.
I don't want to get into this ****, we already had a long and ridiculous thread on it last week

Did you just compare those franchises to the Celtics? The Royals? Really?
I know, seriously!
And you mean to tell me every Cubs fan, for instance, goes to the games rooting/expecting them to lose? Some, sure, but fandom is blind, which is one of the things that can be fun about it
